This is one of my favorite songs of all time. Cape Cod is one of the most beautiful places I have visited, and I have been to Rome and Hawaii and yet right in my own back yard of New England is the loveliest place of all. I was 43 yrs. old before I ever went there and now as we have grown older it's been quite a while since I've been back. But I can still see the ocean waves slapping the shore, smell the salty water and lobsters cooking in the pots and swimming in the pool and hot tub as clear today as when I was last there. We have always gone during the off season because we don't like the crowds of people and can have the beach to ourselves mostly. The clam chowder is fabulous.

This song reminds me of when my life was happy and we were young and in love. Since losing our children and granddaughter that has changed. We took our granddaughter there with us once and I have sweet memories of that. Losing a child changes your life forever. I am not the same person as before all our losses but I like to think I have become a better person with more compassion and caring and desire to help others.

I doubt we will ever visit the Cape again as my husbands eyes are very bad now and age has crept up on us both. But I have the wonderful memories of those days and this song to sing to remind me of them.

Merry Christmas to all of you and it's been a blessing to have spent the last 5 weeks with each of you. Stay safe and well and hope to see you on the next journey.

Beautiful, Joyce. Lovely sing and memories.

Went there every summer for a week when I was young with my parents...loved those days even though I never really swam much. Warm water, sandy beach right in front of the cottage. Wish I realized then how Special it was to have had that time together with my Grandmother, too. My nose was always in a book or coloring. Think about it often, though...I was 7-12 probably. Then we didn't go any more. Mom's friend gave us free rental to babysit her son there...he grew up...we lost our job and the cottage vacations.

Hurricane blew the place apart twice, though...luckily we were not there then.

Hi Joy. This was sweet and pretty. I always thought it sounded like a wonderful place to go and visit, and maybe one day I will get there. As much as you and your husband have lost, you are still together, which is a wondrous thing in itself these days. I too have lost loved ones but no one really knows what others have been through even though it fills most of us with compassion. I can't even imagine what you must have gone through. Thank you for all of your lovely comments to me throughout the contest.

I have never been to Cape Cod and have never had a lobster stew, but your song and its lyrics makes me feel like I am sitting next to you enjoying our time together. Your story is painful to read, but we all have our adversities and challenges that often help us become stronger. I listened to the very end and feel sad now as it takes me back to when I was young thinking Lake Michigan was the biggest lake in the world and how lucky I could swim in it for free! Ah, what a thought. Best wishes for a lovely holiday and thanks for your support and kindness. Let's enjoy while we are able to . . . Hugs, John

We get to the Cape once a year in July. I know just how special it is. We lost our youngest son, too, and we released his ashes over the bay. You sang this beautifully. God bless you

Hi, Joyce, this has always been a favorite - have never had the pleasure of visiting
New England/always wanted to. What a beautiful, loving sing by you on this special
song - can tell each word is like a treasured seashell you've found by the tender way
you sing this. Thank you, sweet one, even after all your losses, for being there for
everyone at the point of their need; for all your lovely comments and caring; most of
all for being my bff for many years now - you are such a Heaven-sent Blessing!
