This is where you play back a recording, comment on it, share it on Facebook etc. It should be pretty obvious that to play a recording you simply click the "PLAY" button in the player, but let's briefly go through a few other things you can do on this page, as well as some tips on what to when you have problems getting a recording to play.
Comment on the Recording
Scroll down to the bottom of the page to leave a comment. If it's anything a SingSnap member loves, it's getting comments on their recordings! Keep it positive though, SingSnap is all about positive encouragement and if you can't find anything nice to say it's best to not say anything at all.
Flagging as Favorite
If you like the recording you may want to flag this member as one of your favorites for easy access to their recordings in the future. This is done by clicking the heart icon next to their username. You can also flag the recording itself as a favorite as well as the song and artist.
Sharing on your social network site of choice is easy. We have buttons for Facebook, Twitter and Google+ located to the right of the player. For Facebook for example, all you have to do is click on the "Share" button and then (optionally) write something in the window that pops up and click the "Share Link" button to post it to your Facebook timeline.
Recording Your Version
Look for the button that says "Record Your Version or Duet". This will, as you'd expect, take you to a page where you can choose to make a duet with this recording (if allowed by the member who recorded it) or record your own version of it from scratch. This is also the button you click on when you want to add harmonies to your own recording. The button will then say "Harmonize Your Recording" instead though.
Link to the Recording
When participating in contests and challenges on SingSnap it's often a requirement to post a link to the recording you want to enter the contest / challenge with. To copy the link you click in the box to the right of the "Link:" text. The link will now be selected and all you have to do is click Ctrl+C (Windows) or Command+C (Mac). Now the link is in your computer's clipboard and you can paste it, Ctrl+V (Windows) or Command+V (Mac), in the message board reply. You can of course do this anywhere else too like in private messages, on your profile page etc.
Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions we get regarding this area.
Why isn't the song playing?
If the song isn't playing when you press the "PLAY" button you'll want to ensure that the song has fully loaded. Directly above the player controls you should see a black bar that indicates the loading progress. If that bar is all or partially gray the song hasn't fully loaded yet. In that case you simply wait a little longer, or if it seems completely stuck you could try refreshing the page in your browser. You may also wish to clear your browser cache and cookies to see if that helps.
Why do I keep having to wait for the song to buffer?
If you're seeing the buffering message repeatedly it's very likely that your internet connection has slowed down. If this is occurring you can press the "Stop" button and wait for the song to fully load. Slow internet connections will usually return to normal on their own but if it doesn't you can try restarting your modem and/or router (unplug the power for about 1 minute and then plug it back in) to see if that helps.
Why is song playback choppy?
The most common cause of choppy playback is related to system resources on your computer. Adobe Flash Player currently requires a 2.33GHz or faster x86-compatible processor, or Intel Atom 1.6GHz or faster processor for netbooks. If your processor speed is slower than that, or if your system is overtaxed running other programs, playback may become choppy. In this case closing any unneeded programs should help improve playback. To rule out other programs interfering with playback we recommend rebooting your computer if you have problems. We also recommend having just one browser tab / window open to avoid that other processes interfere with playback.
The player didn't load and I only see a blank spot where it should be, what should I do?
If the player hasn't loaded at all you most likely need to install or update Adobe Flash Player. You can download the latest version here:
