Cannot Detect Any Sound Coming From Your Microphone

The following information will help you adjust known browser settings that can cause no sound to be detected from your microphone.

FireFox

The Adobe Flash Protected Mode setting is known to cause Flash Player performance issues that can result in no sound being detected from your microphone. Disabling the Adobe Flash Protected Mode should resolve the issue. The following link to Mozilla's Support page will explain how to disable Adobe Flash Protected Mode.

Chrome

Chrome has an added layer of microphone and camera permissions that can result in no sound being detected from your microphone. Manually setting the Chrome browser permissions should resolve the issue. Here is how to do that.

  1. Open a song like you're going to record it.

  2. Look in the address bar of your browser and find where it says "www.singsnap.com". Now directly to the left of the "www" click on the small image that looks like a sheet of paper.

  3. In the menu that opens look for the Camera Permission setting and click on the small black down arrow.

  4. Select "Use global default (Ask)" from the small menu.

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the Microphone permission setting.

  6. Click anywhere outside the settings menu and grey bar will appear at the top saying: "New site permissions will take effect after reloading the page. ". Click the Reload button.

  7. The bar will now say: http://www.singsnap.com/ wants to use your camera and microphone. " ". Click the Allow button.

  8. Try recording again.
