The very first time that I heard this song I cried, because it made me think of my parents, and the incredible love that they shared. When my beloved Dad passed in Aug. 2012, my mom was so overcome by sadness that her only wish was to be with him again. I guess that after being together for 56 years, that being apart from one another was too much for her heart to bear. Just two months ago, March 3 2016, my beautiful momma joined my dad in heaven, and although my heart broke, it heals knowing that their hearts are whole once more. Now this song means so much more to me…but it is also so much harder to sing without crying... <3

When I was a kid our family spent many weekends camping. It was our favorite thing to do. Every evening we would sit around the campfire, and I would sing & play my guitar. Sometimes people from other campsites would wander over, and it would become a big sing-along. It never failed, every night my Dad would say "Please, sing Okie from Muskogee, please?" He knew I thought the song was really dorky...I was into John Denver & Jim Croce! But, I'd sing it without fail, cuz it made my Daddy happy, and that made me happy <3
