Redo of a previous version of mine that had already gotten a comment. Hope you like it! After listening to the Carter Family, Elvis Presley, and Barry Manilow do this song (each with their own twist) on YouTube, I think Barry Manilow definitely has the best version. Changing up the lyrics so slightly as to picture oneself at the doorstep of a separated love. Love is worth fighting for per the testimony of those few Christian couples who have stuck through all the %^&&** that's a part of a dysfunctional and un-Christ-like marriage.

Not half bad for me. I've always liked this simple song. Too bad it's not on people's minds more. Then we'd get rid of the non-sensible notions of living together and then breaking up doesn't hurt. Or that children learn to handle divorce. Or it's quality time in a marriage and not time that's needed. It's a public commitment to invest your life in someone else for a life-time and for love (spelled t-i-m-e). WE need to junk ideas that we all have wooden hearts. Or if we do have wooden hearts we should not involve others in our failure honor the institution of marriage.

Now there may be a friendly debate about whether God's Promised Land is Kentucky - but there is NO debate about why we want to be there. It's the home our God meant for us all along next to our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. We are all family there - even if we're from Ohio.

A good recording for me. Dionne Warwick is my favorite singer (altho not my favorite person). So many of her songs (Bert Bachrach and Hal David) are about authentic love. I don't even like to use the word of love anymore since it is not understood. True love is what Jesus Christ exhibited. But nowadays people don't understand sacrificing (which Jesus was and did). people even in the church don't want to hear about admonishment. But the whole of the Bible and God's efforts towards reaching out to men is about bringing out the very best that God intended for every man and woman. And Jesus demonstrated the ultimate sacrifice by dying for people (all of us) who are otherwise unworthy to merit a home in paradise.

Now this whole song is in my lower voice. Forces me to listen to myself more (for speech errors - one of my objects for being out here). Notbad I think - I will use this when I do karaoke. Anybody wants to join in? Maybe we can get to a "Wilbury Sound"? Or maybe someotgher group with 5 members could make the "Wilbury Sound".

The 3 month daughter of friends of ours decided I need to sing this in a lower key. I'm also going to record harmony with this trach adding in my high tenor voice. So look at all three and see what you think.

Best recording yet. I think this song is suited more for my high tenor voice. Narrative portions seem better in a lower voice. Just got the two albums for the Wilburys plus the documentary of their process of coming together and producing. Each one of the five were leaders on some songs. ALL were back-ups for all of the songs. We need to make this song the theme song for Congress. None of this process is happening right now in D. C.!!!

A good recording in my high tenor voice. Will do harmony in a lower key later. Got the full set of CDs for the Wilburys for Christmas. The 2nd CD is about the process of them coming together and recording. Great friendships and mutual respect and admiration. A great sound and testimony to the artistry of all five of them.

Got the timing down. Now if I just had the "living" down. "Forever my heart is wandering" is so true. Do we ever completely grow out of our 2-year old stage - "it's all about me" - "I'll do it myself". And then we come back to the sweetness of life when we put God 1st and ourselves 2nd to others and it all fits and we abound in peace. But we never grow completely out of our 2-year old shortcomings until we're in the presence of the "King of Kings"! AMEN!

Great song by Dean Martin where you get a little Italian - beautiful language. Falling in love is easier than staying in love. But with enough energy you can get to fall in love again and again with the same person. Also doesn't hurt if your greatest love is Jesus - then you've got God's Holy Spirit for the needed energy.
