CHOPPY MUSIC OR SINGING??? ON THE RECORDER OR IN CHAT???

you probably have the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player plugin for your browser, and it has audio issues with snap & with chat... the way to check your version is to simply right-click on the recorder or on the chat room, and in the little popup box, you'll see a line that says "about adobe flash player" followed by a number... if that number is 11.2 or greater, then yes, this is likely your issue...

this affects different browsers in different ways... google chrome has flash built in, and you can't really fix that at the moment... internet explorer is hit or miss, it seems to affect some and not others... but firefox can be fixed by downgrading your version of flash... that is what i use, what i suggest, and what i will cover here...

if you don't have firefox, get it for free from firefox.com... after installing, just close it, you don't need to go to any webpages in FF just yet...

now click here to download the last *good* version of the flash player installer... save it to your desktop... it is a compressed zip file... after the download, extract the contents of the zip file there onto your desktop... if your PC doesn't have the ability to extract zipped files, you will need a program like winzip... you can get it for free from here...

now that you have the file unzipped, inside you will find 3 folders: 32bit, 32bit debug, and 64bit...

ignore the debug folder, that is for developers... you will either need the 32bit folder, or the 64bit folder, depending on your operating system... you will need to know whether your operating system is 32bit or 64bit... if you don't know how, instructions for determining this will be on the "how to uninstall flash" page i will be linking you to shortly...

an overview of the next steps is:

  • uninstall your current version of flash
  • reboot your computer
  • install the previous version of flash from the unzipped folder

instructions for uninstalling flash (as well as how to determine if your OS is 32 or 64bit) are located here

reboot your computer (very important!!!)

now go to the unzipped folder on your desktop...

if using a 32bit OS, you will want to run the file "flashplayer11_1r102_63_win_32bit.msi"
if using a 64bit OS, you will want to run the file "flashplayer11_1r102_63_win_64bit.msi"

now open firefox and come back to singsnap... everything should be working now :)
