My sincere thank you to all who listen and to those who comment. Music is one thing I have loved since my early days singing in church and listening to the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday nights. My Mom insisted that my youngest brother and sister and I sing at all services. It was the time I recall when we were applauded - not what we'd expect at home and it made that young boy "beam". Shyness, kept me from pursuing the field. After 72 years of "seasoning" and erasing hang ups, it's the one thing that allows me to relax and connect with so many folks. And what a blessing; with all the kind folks I've "met" on this site.

My interest is in variety: Artists, songs and genres. If the song has good lyrics and/or melody, it attracts my attention and; if I don't know it, I listen to the originals on Google and learn it. Most of my attention is directed at the classics regardless of the genre. Following is a little "CD" sampling of what I sing though occasionally, I may do something from any of the other SS genre's:

I do take personal requests and will give it all I've got to do them. Just NO RAP or heavy metal stuff. I'm 75 and that does not fit my definition of music.

Jim

I was born in Swartz, Louisiana and as a youngster; I had two loves, baseball and music. My Mom, who was a staunch church goer, insisted that my younger brother, sister and I sing in church, much to my embarrassment due to my shyness. We moved to Claremore, Oklahoma when I was 15. At age 16, I left home and made my way to Los Angeles with a one semester stop in Wetumpka, Alabama.

In LA, I worked my way through Belmont High School and played third base and pitched baseball. I then earned my BS degree from San Fernando Valley State College and played one season as a pitcher on the first baseball championship team for the school. Vietnam put a delay on my dream to play baseball professionally and upon my return, I was told I was too old to play.

Having arrived in LA during the early rock 'n roll years, I began collecting every #1 recording from the late 50's - mid 60's. I also found I enjoyed singing along with the radio but was terrified of getting in front of anyone to actually sing.

MANY years later, I met a great Azle, Texas gal, who had performed for Johnny High's Opry. Of course, I had NO knowledge of that but she had the ability to suffer through some of my "radio duets". One night she took me to one of the Opry's she had performed at; and without my knowledge, set me up to sing before a crowded house with a live country band. This led to introducing me to Karaoke and I was hooked on my second love.

I currently live in Ft Worth, Texas.
