Careless days of summer vacation soon coming to an end. Traveling to New York today.
Welcome visitors to my profile page. I am excited about sharing my music with you all on this website. I am fairly new to the site, having started back in November 2014. The reason for joining was really to provide comforting music for my mother, as she was battling cancer in New York. She has since passed recently, and in her honor, I will continue to extend her gift of music to me, through song. My brother is also on this website, and had encouraged me to get started. So here we are.
I first became interested in learning music as a child in elementary school, playing the trumpet, and then the French horn in junior high and high school. I didn't start actively singing really until my senior year of high school, when I joined the school chorus, and participated in a school musical. I then continued singing in college with the Penn State Glee Club and Hi-Los, and enjoyed the challenge of tackling a variety of difficult musical pieces. The highlight was a tour of the northeastern U.S., performing concerts for alumni in various cities and towns.
After completing my university studies, I served as an officer in the U.S. Navy, where I had the opportunity to "see the world", visiting such places as Hawaii, the Philippine Islands, western Australia, Malaysia, the Persian Gulf, Diego Garcia, and the Maldivian Republic (Maldives). Musical pursuits were somewhat limited then, although I had the opportunity to meet Kris Kristofferson while at sea at a USO show. Since my Navy days, I took up the guitar as an accompanying instrument, and have had the opportunity to be a member of many diverse amateur and professional musical singing groups most with an emphasis on Christian Contemporary music, stage, pop, folk/country, holiday, variety, or easy listening.
I have had the honor of performing on local television and radio, and now enjoy the opportunity to share my music with an International audience here on Singsnap. I also sing locally for special events, and on special occasions, at Karaoke bars with friends, and as you know, that can be quite fun.
I have been an educator in California for over 20 years, and love to share my musical interests with my young students.
Please feel free to drop a message in my guest book, or say hello while visiting in on recordings. I will try to do the same for you, and hope that I can make some lasting friendships while on this site. But most importantly, I just hope to have fun singing and listening. Thank you for dropping by, and best wishes for the year ahead. Keep on singing! God Bless, Brian
