My musical life started with singing in church. I had the good fortune of being part of a church tradition that sang in parts so I learned to sing harmonies at a young age. I began learning clarinet in the 6th grade. Once I got to high school I borrowed every school-owned horn I could get my hands on and learned it as fast as I could. My favorites are clarinet, sax and trumpet.
My younger brother started taking piano lessons when I was 16. His teacher was an elderly lady that had taught a large percentage of my small hometown to play piano. Unfortunately she passed away shortly after he started taking lessons. So there sat an unused pea-green full upright piano with no one to play it. I started picking out notes from a hymnal and with a lot of perseverance I was able to learn to play with some proficiency.
I've played in church groups, rock bands, sang in choirs, a capella men's quartets and a variety of other things.
Lately I've been playing keys and a windsynth and singing backup vocals on my church's worship team.
And......... I love singing on SingSnap!!!
