Thanks for visiting my personal Singsnap profile!!! I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU to all of you who take the time to listen to my songs. Your support means the world to me, and I am flattered by your amazing comments!!!

WHO AM I?

I think everyone has one thing they're really good at - and if you can be fortunate enough to LOVE doing what you're good at - therein lies the gift.

I began singing at the age of 14, and quickly discovered that my way of communicating and interacting with the world was through music. I grew up spending my waking hours singing my butt off - if not in the high school music room (self professed jazz choir geek here), then in my mother's living room, with a candlestick for a microphone, cranking the stereo which played all the powerhouse vocalists of the time - Reba McEntire, Wynonna Judd, Bette Midler, Whitney Houston, Barbara Streisand, Aretha Franklin, and some of my jazz idols - Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Diane Reeves, etc.

God blessed me with a voice people find easy to listen to and the ability to hear every little nuance and inflection in other singers' voices so that I could mimic their sound and learn how to do that too, until my own sound developed. I have added in flavors from a myriad of artists since then (most recently Adele, Lady Gaga, Pink, Jennifer Nettles (from Sugarland), Hillary Scott (from Lady Antebellum), Wynonna Judd, and so many more - artists from all genres, which is what I like to think makes my sound so versatile.

I am here to enjoy and share the love of music along with everyone else Music is more than a just my name (and yes, my real name is Melody), it is my soul... I am calmed by it, excited by it, comforted by it, mystified by it and often haunted by it. It can lift me out of depression or move me to tears. It is as much a part of me, as I am of it. People say the greatest artists have lived the hardest. I don't profess to be "great" but I have suffered tremendous loss, heartbreak, depression and anxiety and yes, I am in the suicide survivors club too... but the music strengthens people like me, doesn't it? It builds our hearts back up, one fiber at a time... one note at a time... one satisfying performance at a time.

I appreciate everyone who chooses to listen to my stuff and comments are always appreciated!!!

I also have a thread on the message boards where I offer to give feedback to those who would like some tips on how to improve their own performances! If you're interested, here's the link: http://www.singsnap.com/karaoke/forum/topic/a410f7fc

For the love of music,
Melody
