Since my last update, I left for about 3 years because of vocal issues following 2 bouts of laryngitis which impeded my singing. My range dropped from Soprano to Alto so I'm looking for a whole new variety of songs to sing. The Celine Dion, Mariah Carey etc., songs are out of my range now. I'm getting used to my new voice and think that I like it better!
Unfortunately, as well, my Birth Aunt who I spoke about below just passed away on April 24th. I am sad but I am grateful that I had 8 wonderful years where I visited her twice in Florida and she came up to Canada and visited me in return. She is in a better place now, with my Mom and her other brothers and sisters.
Update on my life!! On Mar. 6, 2012, I got a phone call and it turned out to be my birth mother's sister!! She'd been looking for me for 25 years! My mother died in '87 and in '88 she started searching for me. That was the same year that I was pregnant with my daughter and the thought crossed my mine to do the same for medical records alone. After sending an application to search for my birth parents, I was sent information regarding my medical records but only a sketchy account of my adoption was evident. I gave up the search until I got online a few years ago. I received information regarding my mother's name and my name upon giving me up and no similar request on her part to be connected to me so the file lay dormant until last week. I now have a medical history, many relatives and a chance to perhaps find my father as well. Who would have ever guessed that this would happen to 'lil ole me? I didn't even have siblings! COOL HUH? My Aunt and I finally met last year and there's nothing separating us now....we've so many similarities...I guess you can't get away from "family"! She lives in Florida so we won't be able to see each other often but I will always have a reason to visit and vise versa!
I am an adopted half Japanese and a quarter Irish and French girl. Recently, I found information about my biological parents but I have never met them...and probably never will. I was lucky to still have my Dad with me at 98!(He passed away at 99 on August 17, 2010) My Mom passed away when I was only 9 at the age of 53! My file indicates that my biological Dad used to sing and play guitar so I guess that's where I get my love for music from. I am the proud Grandmother of two beautiful little girls...Alexis Nikki, born Dec. 24, 2009 and Tahlia Rae, born Aug. 12, 2011. Why didn't anyone tell me how great is was to be a Grandmother....I would have done it first!!! LOL
I sound like a cat with it's tail caught in a door. Because of my soprano voice, I've been told to just "shut up" on occasion, until I came here. I don't feel so shut out anymore. Thank you for giving me the confidence to go on. I'm 61 and have been singing as long as I can remember. I was involved in amateur theatre groups in Montreal for a few years and in school and church choirs. I love to sing the classics like the "Messiah" and I love Broadway music. Music is my passion and it gives me great joy (much to the dismay of some of my friends). I harmonize with the radio, CD's and anyone who plays guitar. I can't stop...so I don't. I'm totally addicted to Karaoke and for Christmas a few years ago, my husband bought me a "Singing Machine". I haven't used it much since joining SS, but it is part of my living room furniture, waiting for when the mood comes over me/us. I have met so many nice people through these Karaoke sites. We all have the passion and we are all on common ground. It bridges the continents, age groups and genders. Thank you for being a part of my new "world". Since Jan. 2013, after a bout of laryngitis, my voice has lowered considerably and is forever changed. I don't know quite what to do with it yet, and maybe it's a good thing that I can't sing shriekingly high anymore but bear with me as I adjust my tone and get used to the minimal repertoire now.
A few of us here have come to a similar conclusion that the rating system is more often than not, dishonest and unnecessary. I, myself, am here for the fun of it only and rarely even remember to rate someone. I hope that you just come by for a sincere visit to hear me sing to you. I do love your feed backs though. Thank you for understanding!
I have met about 50 people from SS in person and have made lifelong friendships with many of them. I am so thankful for the new found bonds that I have made with you. You know who you are! The world is a smaller place since meeting you and now I have many destinations to visit in the future! We are one big family!
On June 25th, 2010, I attended the 3rd Annual Oregonwax Reunion in Wilsonville, Oregon. I didn't even care if I sang, as long as I had fun meeting more of my fellow SSers! It was a great success and I had a blast meeting JJMartin, Oregonwax, TheHotDuke, TabithaElizabeth(Elizabeth71), Kenzaga, Shermhum, Angcould and too many more to mention. I won't be able to go this year but I wish them a great time! You guys rock!

OUR FLORIDA TRIP AND CRUISE!
MY DAUGHTER'S WEDDING-AUGUST 23, 2009
Back in November '08, I visited my good friend Sandra (Islandgirl54) in Florida, for the first time and I had such a fabulous 3 days! We sang together and met two other Singsnappers; Bill Perkins (Egidio) and Robin (RobinR1963) too! My memories will last forever. This is just my first visit to Florida...I will go back!
In August '08, My husband and I took a trip to Portland, Oregon, to finally meet 4 of my friends here on SS. They all welcomed us with open arms and I am glad to say that I have made friends forever. Here is a short account of that trip!
