I am a Mom of two :) I work with children (ages 3-7) who have difficulties with communication - I really enjoy interacting with the children daily and wish that I always had a notepad in hand for all the funny/sweet things they say :) I love their honesty at this age and find great joy/satisfaction in seeing them experience the power of communication. During the past few years, I've learned so much about working with children who are non-verbal and need a picture system or higher tech device/talker to assist them in communicating with others. I continue to learn about sensory issues in children and how I can help them to learn the best. I enjoy the challenges of my work - I'm often inspired by the determination I see in these little ones :) I have learned so much from them. They really have an appreciation for the simple...see the beauty in the simple things...and I love and appreciate that perspective. I enjoy singing a variety of musical styles. I was raised on a farm and listened to a lot of bluegrass and country music growing up. Once I became a teenager, I decided that I was going to like the opposite of what my parents enjoyed - so I listened to a lot of pop music - Madonna being one of my favorite artists :) I've always enjoyed learning about other cultures, religions, and languages. I am bilingual - English is my first language, Spanish - I learned later in life. You will notice that I really like quotes - I post a lot of them - Many times, I post them as a reminder to myself of something I need to think about more at this time in my life. I have always said - the more I learn, the more I realize...how much I really do not yet know :) I really enjoy hearing the many talented musicians on this site - I've been introduced to so many wonderful, meaningful songs...and I've learned a lot from the friends I've made here.
