Hi, my name is Roger and I am a neuroscientist (PhD) by profession. I have always loved to sing but pursued a career in science at an early age. I come from a line of singers, dancers and actors. I am very proud of my niece Dianne who performed in an Academy Award winning motion picture. My son Liam is 8 years old and he has recorded a song called "Eye of the Tiger" on my profile (check it out).

My favorite band is called Trobar de Morte a Gothic band that has it's origins in Spain. Below is an ancient lament called Ailein Duinn...traditionally sung in Scottish Gaelic about "dark-haired Allan" who in 1788 drown in a ship that was caught in a storm...His fiancée Annie Campbell wrote the song to express her feelings of grief...following this her body was found lying on the beach close to where the ship wreak had occurred...

I have been singing for two year in clubs and pubs and here on SingSnap. I am competing in the World Karaoke Championships 2012 and have reached the semi-finals (trophy below) in Australia. This is LIVE karaoke where you sing on stage and compete against other singers in your own Country and then if you win the finals you sing against more than 30 different countries and this will be held in Finland this year (wish me good luck!). I am influenced by Gothic and Celtic music. I like haunting ballads that tell a story of a tragic tale. I also love songs that mention natural elements like "Wind" "Sun" "Moon" "Ocean/Sea" "Trees" "Grass" "Clouds" etc...
