Birthday page * ~ * ~

There could be tons of birthdays that day and well it would still be based on popularity. Some people would be getting more comments then others for their birthday and then the ppl would complain how this person got more comments on their birthday songs than the other person.

Just saying..Cool idea but it still would just be popularity and lord knows how many birthdays there could be that day.

I highly doubt that it would be based on popularity Chuck....

One day their could be 50 birthdays and I would know none of them....the next day there could be 100 birthdays...and I might know one or two of them...and so on....everyone else would be the same....

Given the size of the membership here and the amount of friendships made....it is probably fair to say that each day would bring a different set of statistics from it...

What bothers me though....is that I tend to think that the top few will receive more attention than the rest of them.....which is basically what happens now with the PC....

Are people willing to go on there and comment on 50 birthday peoples recordings in one day?.....probably not....they will just choose...A. The people they know...B. Songs that they like... C. Something that stands out to them....

The real value in a BP is not who get clicked on. The value is for people who do not have the time to keep up or even know when their friends birthday is will have a place to come to see who of their friends is having a birthday.

I personally could care less about wishing anyone I don't know a happy birthday. So, in my opinion, if the page was there I would go look to see among my friends is having a birthday and then wish them a happy one.

There is nothing I hate more than getting PMs from someone I don't know asking me to go wish a person I don't know a happy birthday. And it is nothing more than the person sending the invite singing happy birthday. To me that is nothing more than begging for listens.

I LOOOOOOVE this idea! There would be some security issues that would have to be addressed and most likely an opt-in feature but generally speaking, I think it's very clever and a nice way to bring our community even closer together :)

The shuffling is a great idea offering equal exposure.

As for the popularity........

Some people are more popluar than others. It exists in many areas on this site. That can't be balanced out, and people will always go and listen to whom they choose. Some people get more listens and comments than I do. It is what it is. I just accept it and value the friends/views/comments that come my way.

Who said anything about any harm in it. If it tickles your fancy go ahead. I just probably won't spend my time wishing everyone on the page a HB.......like anything else it's each person's choice. I just voiced what my choice was.

I would definitely pop in and wish folks a happy birthday...ain't no different than doing listens on stranger's songs while in a contest and it's another chance to meet new folks...i love the idea and y'all are all invited to my song, on January 6, when I sing Happy Birthday to myself...hahaha, partay everyone!!!!!

I think if the page can shuffle automatically.....then perhaps that is something that would make the current PC page more effective?....... :)

It certainly would make a BP a lot fairer with respect to what recordings are at the top....

I have come to actually love this idea to Vicster!! Awesome work here :)

You know this works with what I usually do anyway. I go through my favs and fans every now and then and look for birthdays. I figure a birthday wish in pm might brighten their day. Not everyone gets recorded birthday songs by friends dedicated to them on their special day. So I definitely gravitate towards this idea.

The opt in/out option makes sense and the feature shuffle would be a fair way to give everyone exposure :)
