I've found some wonderful people on here and some of them are totally awesome with the talent for singing
but I have to showcase some of them on facebook , twitter and myspace because they Do Not get the listeners they should actually some are over looked just like on that hof or what ever they are calling it these days
I have flagged 3 people who have the voices of angels and nobody ever listens to them but me and sometimes I can get others to listen to them but what sucks is I have to keep showing them off on twitter over and over and over again I'd do it on facebook but the admins would tell me I am spamming and tell me to please don't do that again one time is enough thank you
aparently they have no ear for talent either bahahahaha
but yeah there is some awesome talent on here

Pardon the short comments...hurt my wrist....can barely type :(

Agreed Lady. I have a list of outstanding singers who get very few views as well. It is a shame. I guess it all sometimes comes down to making yourself known and involved with the SS community. I like to join contests for that very reason. Plus I hear some wonderful performers, learn new songs, and make friends

I think that comments are overrated!! Don't get me wrong, when someone listens to me, I always give them a listen. If I really like them, I flag them. That has resulted in my list of about 100 favorite singers. So, occasionally, I go thru that list, visiting everyone and commenting their songs. But I don't comment to get return comments. We all know the deal with getting lots of comments. The ratio of comments to songs are no indicator of a singer's talent. Some of the worst singers get hundreds of comments, while some of the best singers get nada!! I found a singer the other day, that I had flagged awhile ago. Personally, with her voice, I would swear that she is a known celebrity, who is just moonlighting out here, she is that good! But as good as she is, she gets very few comments. On the brighter side, most comments are just superficial anyway, and are only given to get people to listen to their songs. Personally, I'll take whatever I can get, as long as it is sincere. This place is more of an ego stroker than anything else. Most people have their own agenda and will say whatever they like, in order to get some comments on their songs. Some of them don't even listen to the song! The only problem for them is that they get return comments, but those people don't listen to their songs either, so it's really much ado about nothing. If you have a few real people, who listen to your music and are genuine, you have struck gold.

Raising my glass to you Marshall...you hit a bullseye with that last line!

And now that I think about it, I do seem to have developed a bit of a following in the karaoke community here in my hometown...a very small following but one nevertheless...hmmm...

exactly my point also Marshal there are some totally beautiful and marvelous singers on here but they get over looked why
Because they "DO NOT" sing like the original singer why people on here think that is efficient is beyond my comprehension I mean if you watch the x-factor Simon says to the singer what are you doing it like the original artist for
and he lets them and teaches them to sing the song the way THEY sing it
not the original artist he doesn't want to hear the original artist way of singing
he wants to hear the beautiful voice coming from the singer
and there are soooooo many on here that sing their way and have beautiful voices but get not glance or listen or comments because THEY DO NOT SING LIKE THE ORIGINAL ARTIST and that's "BULLPUCKY" can't cuss so I say it that way lol
see people need either hit on the head or slapped the snot out of to get the original artist sound out of their ears and head when listening to singers on here that's the "HUGE" problem on here
nobody on here sings like the original artists but yet they are Beautiful singers and performers outright on here but very few but hardly listeners or comments !!!!!!!!!!

Admittedly, Elvis songs have been burned into my brain and I can't sing them any other way, it just don't feel right, but I DONT SOUND LIKE ELVIS!!! Other than that, I like to get a really loose interpretation of a song, just to learn how it goes, and make it my own. Unfortunately, sometimes the pesky background singer's make you conform to a certain way in spots. I can't imagine anyone actually wanting to sound like someone else though. It's hard enough to be a good singer, singing as yourself. How much harder would it be to impersonate another singer?? I say, take a song, make it your own, and go with it.

I say sing to the best of your ability, there are people on this site who can sing (audio) and some who are successful with the help of (video). In other words their video helps carry their vocal. Someday when I'm gold again I would love to judge a vocal only contest. Would also love to see a difficulty factor in this contest. Key changes, adherence to meter, dynamics, etc would factor into the outcome. To sing the melody and stay in key without going flat or becoming pitchy would also be important. I've heard people on this site who can do that, and it would be nice to notice them. Just a thought.

Interesting concept widdy. Let me know if you do that. I would love to give them a listen

Widdy, I go back and forth with using video. As a singer, I find that it is a double edged sword. On the positive side, I can watch to see if I am opening up my mouth, instead of singing thru my teeth (always looking to improve). On the flip side, it is kind of distracting for me because it is one more thing that I need to be aware of. Right now, I am doing audio only. Next week? Who knows? As far as contests go, I just don't get involved in them. I feel that contests are subjective to the judge's tastes and perceptions. For me, contests have been nothing but washes and, quite honestly, i don't need the validation anyway. I just do my thing and, if people stop by and listen, that's good enough for me. There are just to many hurt feelings that come with contests. But for those who enjoy them, your idea sounds like a good one.

I still have that problem but I am working hard to overcome it...to sound like the original singer was fine for a while but if I don't like they way something is done in a song I will not hesitate to change it and do it the way I want...sometimes people notice, sometimes they don't, but if it works for ME, then it's "mission accomplished"...
