Re-Post in case anyone's interested in getting the Win 10 upgrade still available for free. No guarantees on how long Microsoft will leave this option up on their site.

Last night while bored and messing around with another older Win 7 computer, I wondered if the free Win 10 upgrade was still available. I read it still might work but saw this on the Microsoft website:

Is the Windows 10 free upgrade offer still available?

The Windows 10 free upgrade through the Get Windows 10 (GWX) app ended on July 29, 2016.

At that point I expected it wouldn't allow an upgrade. On the Microsoft 'Download Windows 10' page I clicked 'Download Tool Now' (MediaCreationTool). Once downloaded it started upgrading and later asked for the product license key. I entered the Win 7 product key which was accepted and Windows 10 was installed.

Win 7 will no longer receive security updates after January 14, 2020. So if you've held out for whatever reason on upgrading to Win 10 on your main or spare computer(s), try this and hopefully it will work for free.
