1-3-1 challenge (No.5)

Are you ready? This is challenge No.5 or is it… Potion No.5? :D Yes, it’s that time of the year! Bring me your spooky songs, and your word this week is ‘Ghost ’. However, you are not restricted to songs by this name or anything... Is that a trick or a treat? Hmm.

Sing any song you like fitting the theme, have fun this Halloween, but remember… staf sayfe!!

This challenge will run from Sunday 25th October to Sunday 1st November 2020.

This challenge is open to everyone – new and old, blue and gold

Everyone is still a winner – the winning is in the taking part, sharing, and caring.

The new challenge is in a 1- 3 -1 format.

One word – open to so much more! Harder for me than you!! :D The description will explain what/how?

Three songs – keep it down to three (spread out) for now, and let’s be fair. For each song you post, listen to three other people’s songs in the challenge, then post your second, do the same again and then your third. Find new people.

One Week – I recognise we are all busy, so, I want this to be a time to chill; drop in when you can and enjoy.

BONUS SONGS – 2 extra songs between WEDNESDAY and after – spread them out! Bonus songs must follow the theme and must also comply with 3 listens to each one added.

Please add your songs in the following format:

Name of Song - Artist:
Link:

The PLAYLIST will be written links to help accessibility and fairness to listens both ends and in the middle as people join us during the week. On Sunday, Mikeiii will add an automated one for those joining in late or anyone needing to catch up - enjoy the songs.

If you wish to link back to this challenge page in your song description that’s up to you. It does help!

There are THREE options
1) add a plain link… grab the url on the first page in your browser.

2) use the image I use up top – CODE:

[url=http://www.singsnap.com/karaoke/forum/topic/b2198552][IMG]http://i.imgur.com/P2OomK7m.jpg[/IMG] [/url]

NO BANNERS or CODES in the THREAD please.

3) alternative option - put it in your status. Giving you the ability to click it and come back here whilst spreading the word.

CODE for Status:

[url=http://www.singsnap.com/karaoke/forum/topic/b2198552]1-3-1 Challenge (No.5) [/url]

You don’t have to use any of these. However, it would be great if you introduce friends, especially if their songs you visited fit the theme. :)

Have a wonderful week!

Okay, thought I'd plan a little ahead this time, grin. Here is a song... and a rather palid ... blue... me?

'Tender - Blur by CerebralJam

It has the longest introduction in the history of man - so, I didn't know what to do with myself, and the backing singer was over zealous for this time of evening on a Sunday!

Thanks for haunting this one Janet

It occurred to me it has a ghost in it ...Mother Mary ...appearing in Paul McCartney's hour of darkness
The story goes he dreamt his long departed mother Mary came to him in a dream when the Beatles were splitting up & it wasn't a great time for him

Brilliant, Jenny! Do you know, I landed on that one but didn't know it would have that great connection! And I didn't take it in until you just said, wow! My spooky presence must be spotting shadows in the lyrics and leaving glitter... You have this challenge sussed!

Absolutely, if you find a song that connects in such a cool way, please go for it, all. I am not limiting you to 'Ghost'. Words that connect, such as in a vision or dream are really cool. You can also bring the usual spooky songs, but I fear you may just have this challenge done and dustyied by Wednesday if you do

Everyone worked so hard last week, it's all over to you!

Sorry for the late reply, had to go do my Sunday evening chores. All done and ready to settle down to some listens.

Absolutely, Esthelle! Anything fitting the theme which is spooky or Halloween songs will do But if people can be clever and spot ghosts in songs/titles/bands etc. go for it! I just don't want you to have to think as hard as last week.

I could have chosen another 'one word' Muwhahaha... and... it will really confuse others with my comments ... but, I chose it cos one appeared in a song I was looking at (whilst thinking Halloween is around the corner) AND I am your (g)host! I guess I chose to 'trick' you?

Heheh, I could kind of predict folks would rush at this one, do remember to space out the week! It is a long, long time till Sunday - or even Saturday night I know you are all good listeners Let off the hook this time Ising! Nobody else is to post all three tonight hahaha. Get your listens in first per song before posting the next. This will always be a general rule here.

*EDIT: I see you, Steve!

I haven't seen Rosemary's Baby either... I do know I find Clowns very Scary - and I did watch 'IT' argggh and I think I even came back for IT 2? If I'm right, there was a sequel. And there are Marionettes, creepy puppet faces. I used to hate dolls eyes.

I am also scared of The Candy Man, Bare Necessities, AND The Banana Splits theme... so I'm easily spooked!

However, I think ghosts might be friendly. I loved Tom's Midnight Garden as a little girl reading. I dreamed of having a friend in the garden and a clock that struck 13. That would be okay!

Nina was such as great singer but unfortunately she was not treated as well in the United States, because it was during that period of time when Black entertainers had to deal with racism. She spent more of her career in Paris. There was the great movie about her called "Nina".

Hello Friends....

Well....this is shaping up to be another wicked challenge..... at least for me !

It is just past midnight in my neck of the woods (my usual and preferred Snap recording session time while everyone in the neighborhood is fast asleep)...and I was trying desperately to search for a song for this challenge.... so I came across this tune which I'm sure I've heard before... I had to give it a shot...

Danny - perfectly happy with 'Dark Moon' - anything spooky, creepy, shadowy, dark, Halloweenie, Ghostie, Moonlike, slivery, silvery? ANYTHING just about that you would normally post for this time of year is acceptable... especially if it involves looking over your shoulder just in case... or hiding under your desk or bed... and any other clever songs that fit purely by some of the lyrics...

The bendy ruler remark was just about trying to pace this one, lol. I see quite a few posted 2-3 already It would be a shame if we're all done and twiddling fingers by Wednesday evening! The 'ghost ' could be a 'trick' or a 'treat'

Hello my friends from the crypt

I was pretty much caught up until 3 more songs rise up from the dead but surely I had enough listens to post my No. 2 song for challenge no. 5 - Ghosts, Ghouls and Ghastly
creatures from the grave

One of the most controversial song Robert Plant and Jimmy Page created in 1971 and
received the Grammy Hall of Fame Award. It is also had many interpretations of the
meaning of the song, a rich woman that died buying her way to heaven. And was also banned by guitar stores to anyone who plays Jimmy Page's guitar riff. But the one that received a lot of attention besides" Death and Heaven" is the apparent existence of satanic black masking of this song when played backwards, saying that the song contains the backward message " it's my sweet satan....I will sing because I live with satan.

Edit: I was going to update... but my internet connection has gone down! I have grabbed my mobile and using data there to say sorry folks! If it doesn't come back shortly that's me for tonight! Zzz

Oh my goodness, I went to the bathroom after editing and it came back! Sneaky thing... I'll catch up in the morning...

Hello again dear friends from the deep

Are you ready for another tale from the crypt , cause I am, and oh I'm caught up again
once more so I thought I will post this very strange and haunting song from
Elton John's collection of classic songs, my No. 3 song from the halls of an insane asylum

Madman Across The Water is also the album cover and one of my very favorite album
that contains "Tiny Dancer" and "Levon". This very dark song influenced by the late
Leon Russell, Bernie Taupin made up a story about a lunatic ranting and raving on visiting day at the Asylum. Included in the lyrics are " is my nightmare black or is the windows painted? " Released Nov, 1971

Of course a few years after this song, came a movie directed by Stanly Kubrick and story by Stephen King and starring Jack Nicholson called The Shining, it still gives me the creeps every time I think about that movie and of course being insane
is not at all pretty isn't it ?

Hi Sarah and Snagelstein???

Sarah, I do understand that some folks do not really get into the Halloween celebrations as much as others. And some will give this one a miss.

I went for it to give you a rest after last week's mammoth tusk, I mean task!! I usually wait until nearer the day to start holiday things. So, if you're hoping for Christmas next week... think again! I'll maybe do that one on New Year's Day or sumthink!

I agree that a lot of thought has been put into all the songs, some really lovely choices.

Snagelstein - We have a madman across the water... I have come in, in the wee hours again to catch my fill. I was trying to be good but hey, maybe tomorrow

I have a Stanly Kubrick boxset my girls got me one Christmas I very much like! And Jack Nicholson again is one of my favourite actors. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest is a harrowing but beautiful film.

Thank you!
