I'm going to post an idea here either for helping singers to sing better, (novice or experienced) or for people who would prefer to act instead of sing the song, as an alternative way to express themselves with or without the music!

Here are some samples, just did this tonight for fun, but then my friend Doug thought it would be beneficial for people who feel the need to express but are shy to sing, but still want to express themselves. This might be something they'd like, and also it will definitely help your singing ability as well! So give it a try, and if you like go ahead and post your sample in this thread if you'd like! It's not new, it is a vocal technique I learned from a teacher, although, I did this for fun! So you won't be wasting your time if you'd like to work on your vocal technique, as well as acting! Have Fun! You can't lose

So...someone who is uncomfortable singing a song...might be more comfortable doing a monologue?

Could be, I suppose.

Not everyone can sing...but most can talk.

However, to me it seems...somehow to negate the idea of HAVING A KARAOKE SITE.

Doesn't it?

I don't know...I'm just asking.

I couldn't hear what you said in the huge, and I mean huge cap letters. But it does look to me like you are expressing yourself, right here, on a karaoke site message board, by using those gigantic letters. Expression is good

and keeping positive I do hope that people gain positive benefits from the vocal exercise as this is a Vocal Help, and Tips thread. I'm saying it may help, as a vocal exercise, towards expression, as I was taught from one of my vocal teachers about 25 years ago. Someone may try the exercise and keep it private if they like, and see how they like it, and see how it helps them in performing a song Others may wish to let others view their work as I did Either way, it will help for a singer's performance. Like exercises with any musical instrument, it will help. You can't lose by trying and having fun

Nicely done Salali
When I recorded I just slid the volume right down on the recorder and used the lyrics. Then when previewing I clicked the enable music button I think it disabled the music, and then put the slider back up and saved it.

I'll have to try it again to see if I said that correctly But yes can do the exercise with or without music. You did great

I know I'm going to hate myself in the morning.

On the SS mixer that is a button called "enable music."
If you click it...it is no longer green...and the music is gone.

There you have it...a perfectly good Karaoke song...with NO MUSIC.

Or...you could also us the SLIDER...on the right...one side says MUSIC...the other VOICE. Slide the circle in the middle all the way to VOICE...and ..once again...NO MUSIC.

Here's an idea...take that little slider and move it EVER SO GENTLY..toward the Music. NOT TOO MUCH mind you...we don't want to overwhelm you. Then...perhaps in a week or so...we can move it...just a little more toward MUSIC. Then..when several months have gone by...and we've adjusted to the fact there there is music in the song... Who knows?

The sky's the limit.

Thanks for your help Ed with the recorder.

Now if I'm in need of any tips in sarcasm that will help in a Vocal exercise, I know who to call. Just please be nice, this is to help people I'm sure you'll feel great in the morning and all day, once you try this vocal exercise

Remember though that this exercise can be done with or without music. I just got the urge today to do my recordings (as linked above) without music.

Have fun

Sorry.

I'm afraid the irony of it all pushed my "need to lecture" button.

I can see how my contributions here have NOT been helpful...at least to anyone wanting to improve their speaking voice or learning to sing. Carry on....

Tiptoeing to the door. (door slams)

No problem Ed, you're not the one displaying the tip, and thanks for the help with the recorder, but guess you don't hear me as you've left and slammed the door, but if you somehow still hear me out there, maybe just outside the door,

I can only suggest, within the context of the thread, to aim such expressiveness to the vocal exercise and singing. Without over analyzing the exercise, the end result can be positive and improve singing, for anyone who wants the tip It's one of many I've been shown in my musical journey which started at about 6 years old and continues today Have fun
