Vegas. Stay away from the expensive stay cities (e.g. NYC)--because the higher the hotel stays, the lower number of attendees. Vegas has lots to do, and a wide range of hotel prices, and easy transport to get to a central hotel, and cheap airfare.

Alternatively, also inexpensive, the Caribbeans!

Looking at some of the proposed local events, I think it will take years before the proposed local events would attract attendees to make these interesting. Let's proceed with an international one.

I think that going with multiple different sites is the way to go. So you would have a different location for each region in US - for example, NE (NYC or Boston), Midwest (Chiago), SE (Atlanta, Orlando), SW (Las Vegas), W (Denver), NW ( Seattle) and internationally as well - UK, Europe, Asia, Australia; depending upon where the highest concnetrations of ss'ers are. Then we organize them to occur simultaneously across all the time zones and have a satellite link up so that each group can view/interact with the other locations. We can even have it available for people who are at home and unable to travel for financial or health reasons to dial into the webcast and participate that way. I think all of the regional locations will need to be in major cities with convention centers, etc to make it easier for people to get there from wherever they live. Just my thought.

Remarkable idea! Cameraman may be kind of expensive; and I wonder how expensive satellite hookup for karaoke events upto 12 hours a day might be.

Though I love your idea, I doubt that any of the regions can really attract sufficient number of attendees to make it fun, until several years in the future, when there are huge numbers of online karaokers on this site.

Maybe we could start a SINGSNAP Charter and a INTERNATIONAl SS Charter. Where we can have annual meet and greets, contest and Speical Events.

I have a neighbor that heard me singing (had my window open) and they asked me why I was singing so much. I told them that I sing online Karaoke....'YOU DO! wow I love to sing...but I do not have a Pc. I told them about the 1 and only resturant here that has Karaoke F-Sat nites...but they said I don't do bars and besides it just to late to go as it start so late.

That gave me the idea of starting a Karaoke Club. I am trying to get things in order to do this.

And thats when it hit me...we should have SS Charters
Where we can Meet Live and Share...have fun and get to know others.

NOTE: Sweden is only as big as California. But I wouldn't mind running the Swedish Charter of SINGSNAP.

(Just would need help getting it started)

SS MEET in LONDON would be OK ..ist only a 2hour flight Tops from Here.

I would be all for hosting all this in the US except that their customs is a bitch!! even for us canadians, we need a passport to fly into the US now... I live practically on the border!!! but I still have a hassle to cross into the US... i can't IMAGINE what it's like for ppl from across the puddle!!!

I think that's another consideration that will have to be made. If it's difficult to travel to another country, there won't be too many people able to attend. It's not worth it to spend a big chunk of money on a flight and hotel to attend a conference that's supposed to be fun, and then spend half your time in customs!!!

What about somewhere like mexico or the Caribbeans? We could take over one of those all inclusive resorts.....no worries about food or drink for anyone then??!!

One idea would be a 3-4 day cruise out of either LA or Florida. They offer great deals for groups. This would also pay for the lodging, venue to meet, and food. All and all a better value for everyone.

I love the idea. It seems like most conventions I go to are not two things. They're not cheap, and they're usually not nearby.

Vegas is popular, but now San Francisco is hosting more and more. But there are many places out there that would suffice nicely; Chicago, St. Louis, or coast to coast.

Personally, I think the cruise ship idea sounds real good because it offers so much for the hassle and expense of getting there.

Once you manage to GET THERE, the essentials are included, and you have so many decks, lounges and party areas aboard that it could be a haven for SingSnappers to go and do. With special group rates, and enough interest we could literally own the ship! The aft pool on many ships can be covered with a bandstand/stage, and the party can go on all night! Special arrangements would have to be made of course with the cruise line.

Some SSpers just aren't going to be able to make it. Sad but true. Others are going to pay more to get there...there's no doubt. But if they want to come, and can swing it, they will pay the extra.

Video taping the cruise would be essential, with adequate coverage. For those who can't make it, it would seem to suffice to see a great video of the event...to see all the "stars" actually performing. I would be willing to do the taping if this idea flourishes into an actual event. I would volunteer to do the post production and distribution work on the video as well. We could ask if Trevor and the gang could open up ample storage to contain it, so that everyone on SS could enjoy it. Or, the videotape could be sold in the SS store, with proceeds going to help derive and support the following years event, or go to charity.

By the way, most ships are equipped now with cameras of the main deck topside, and other areas, and broadcast via the web. If K parties are held on the upper decks, others around the world can peek in and join in the fun...or at least have some pics to look at while the party is raging! The ship may even supply a video port for us to broadcast from...who knows! We'd just need to find a member in the cruiseline industry to make it so!!

Just some ideas. A planning committee should be active as soon as possible, if the event is desired in 2008. There's a lot of work to be done for hosting, event planning, schedules, coverage, etc, and there's going to have to be some real dedicated people on the committee who'll roll up their sleeves and get to work.

It would be essential to know, well in advance if possible approx how many folks are interested in attending the event, and can commit, before taking up everyone's time.

Boston would be GREAT for me....NYC would work.

I think there might have to be 2 Parties.... East Coast for all the UK, Euro, and E. Canada and E of Mississippi crowd...and West Coast (Las Vegas?) for the Hawaiian, Philipines, Asian/ Malaysian and W. of Mississipi and W. Canada, Alaskan peeps.

But those who have the big bucks could attend both....UNLESS it was on the SAME DAY and kind of on a Satellite Feed...or something like teleconferenced....so we could sort of see everyone from everywhere......Singing, dancing, food, drinks..oh yeah!sicire

we already siing all day here we start at 11 A.M. at the mall then we move to the hall have supper then we sing till 2 A.M. an extra day would be no problem to add on to this

Fatcat I would love it in Ok. It has alot to offer.. I would sign up in a heartbeat.. I however would not want to go to vegas or any major city like Chicago... of course if there I could drive. I know the airfair and lodging is alot cheaper in the out of way places..... sounds like has alot to offer.

This sounds great and we are for whatever the big decision comes to but just give us all enough time to save for the big event and time to take off from work. Sing Snap is so much fun and for us to meet each other would just be much better. WE CAN DO IT! Steff N Don

I'm in, a little late on the discussion, but a world wide, Singsnaps Got Talent Tour" would be interesting and a USA get together, one on the east coast, down south and west coast, and then one in Canada.
Keep in mind of Americans need for passports to Mexico and Canada now with stricter security measures.

Depending on when it is and where...I would definitely attend!!! I think that would be a lot of fun!!! I would vote for a NYC convention....or even Atlantic City or Orlando...i am always looking for a reason to get to florida!!

I like Tigress's idea...SingSnap should have an international convention...where there would be a convention held in different parts of the country so people could actually attend!!! :0)

I think this is an awesome idea......People from all over the world to participate. A location would be a factor. Plus, considering how many days you would be running this event. I live in Wisconsin.......There is so much to enjoy here in the summer. We have Fests every weekend starting at the end of June called "Summer-Fest". Then from there on at the lake front, they honor all nationalities thru September. It comes down to a huge music fest. My point and suggestion is this. Since it sounds like people are willing to travel. Find a place where they can also enjoy the city. There are many halls/centers so to speak to book ahead of time. As others have suggested....split the locations. So.... that's my input......thank you

A Fantastic Idea, attendance would depend on location and travel costs etc. I'd attempt to find the most central location, but ... there are plenty of cities offering convention centers all over the states. Hmmmmm, I like the idea of early fall season.

Sounds like a lot of logistics but a whole log ot fun! Would there be entry fees?, discounts for gold memebers, flat fee for regular members, and an extra dollar or two for non-memebers. Yikes, wait, this could be a huge undertaking.

Not just east/west but you could split the country/UK etc in "Reagions" like 8 reagions, then there is

and International Conventions! WOW !!!

Atlanta 2008 wow sounds like battling for the olympics.. I think for the states 4 regions. northwest southwest, northeast southeast, Other countries could do this as well. then have one large annual event each year in a popular destination somewhere on the globe changing this site each year. Most of the snap team is Canada so only makes since that the first annual be held in Ontario, or other metro area. Then Maybe LA, NY, or Orlando, Followed by London, Manilla, or Sydney... World events for a global community.. Not all can attend but shoot for the bulk and test the interest in the most densely populated snap areas..

What about a Sing Snap Gives Back kind of idea??? Where we show up in all these areas...and give to a Charity when we get there? Then some people can write off part as a charity contribution (well only the part they GIVE)....but the incentive would be so nice: SE could give to Feed The Children; SW to Katrina: or whatever the organizers decide. Habitat for Humanity? Cancer? Aids? Childhood Diabetes? PETA? so many great causes out there....so many kind and generous people here.

But money seems to be an issue with so many these days...so it's probably just a dream to think about. So maybe the best thing to do is have many local smaller parties that people can afford to attend.

If we only knew who were local to us....I know several from MA, NH, ME and VT....that would be COOL!

Oh, myyyy, I haven't been back here in a while, but looks like there is interest in a karaoke met. A lot depends on the where and when. Sooo, let me report to you about our mini met here in Mississippi in May, 2008.

I believe, as some suggested that starting small is a good idea, and that's just what we did. I invited everone in Mississippi, that I knew was on SingSnap, along with anyone I knew from the surrounding states, Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana, and Tennessee.

We ended up with 8 SingSnappers in attendance, along with the local crowd from my favorite hangout, The Pub, in Ridgeland, MS. There were more who attended by Pal-Talk. We did a broadcast from The Pub into my karaoke room on Pal-Talk, MilaMay N Friends. Those in the room were able to watch us sing and dance, and during the break, we reversed the audio, and those of us at the Pub, listened to the singers in the Pal room over the bar speakers. The singers in the room were able to watch the crowd's reaction to their songs, and I typed some of the comments in the text.

We had two nights of karaoke at the Pub, and we met for dinner on Friday night at a local resturant, overlooking the water at the Ross Barnette Reservoir. Sing Snapper, GI_Joe flew in from California earlier in the week, as was able to record his first demo cd. (Check out his profile page for a listen.) I enjoyed meeting other singsnappers, and being able to sing live with them was such a treat. I feel that a great time was had by all.

I was able to get a few photos and will post them in a slide show on a song hopefully soon. I will post the link here for all to see.

Hopefully our next meet will bring in folks from the Southeast and across the nation. So, keep on posting those ideas and suggestions...and talk to anyone you know who might be interested, and send them here. I'll check back soon..

Here's my 2 cents....for what it's worth....

I think things need to start out small....just like a plant grows by starting small and eventually growing and branching out perhaps Sing Snap members can meet and develop small groups on a state or region level. This would work best until enough interest is gathered in the various groups and then regional gatherings could be formed and eventually a national gathering can be held and then even a world-wide gathering! This would take a period of years but it is definitely do-able by the amount of interest here!

With the musicians group I'm a member of we have regional conventions during the even years and a national convention on the odd years.

A few years ago I went on a cruise (Royal Caribbean) and karaoke was available several nights during the cruise including LIVE karaoke whereby a live band was playing while singers sang! That was pretty cool! The talent rep from the cruise line was in attendance and was scouting for potential new talent. So that's an option for those who have the time and money to spend on such a venture.
