Status Messages getting vulgar........

Hi all who read this.....I have been on SS since 2007 all together.

There are several people on SS that like to put up nasty vulgar status messages that insinuates things that I do not want my kids, anyone else's seeing on a site that is about singing, fun and family.

I have watched this for 3 years now and SS has done nothing to stop the nasty inappropriate status messages I read on here.

When people make comments on your songs, your kids, grand-kids, friends and family sees these..........................

If you don't have a decent status message on your account then stay off my songs.

If you do not have any respect for yourself or any common sense than to know better than to put things like that on a family based singing site....then I don't want to know you.

Please get a life as the reason I am a smoker is because it was illegal and fun to get away with and I started when I was 10. I tried to tell my son the facts of life when he was 12 and he already knew all about it. Kids will always experiment and the more you try to hide things from them the more likely they are to try it so it is better to be open with them eg. when my son was 9 he wanted a cigarette so I gave him one and made him smoke it properly in front of me and told him I did not want him to do it but if he did he bought his own and smoked in front of his parents well he tried it and was as sick as a dog and is now 44 and still does not smoke--- do I need to convince you anymore

I was once in an Australian thread that had over 1100 pages, we had lots of memories in there, but wait! someone (Not Australian) came into our thread and read an Aussie Joke, and went running to the SS Police and the thread was closed!
So I get really annoyed when I read stuff like this in here, kids pick up stuff from anywhere, school, friends, parents, movies.....so if you don't like it, block that person....don't make everyone else suffer!Boney-Jo

I agree ....if you don't like it .......don't look! ....or if the status message that gets up your nose is on on your song page...and you don't want it there...just delete the comment!

The kids today that I know (nephews, nieces, cousins, friends kids) have a huge vocabulary of vulgarism being saturated with it in media, internet, and school. Even the so called family movies of today are not so tame anymore. Just my viewpoint after scanning the thread, to each his/her own I say.

Boney the age requirement is 13 yrs old to have your own account here hun. I know this because my teen bugged me for weeks before his 13th bday trying to get me to look the other way so he could open an account early.

No such luck, and he still isn't allowed to play here without my hubby or myself in close proximity. I did however get him gold for his bday.. :o) kyafirst

Don't blame you girl. Even though the age requirement is 13, I don't think kids should be on here alone. It is just like them going to any other site on the internet. Constant supervision is definitely needed. I actually think the age of requirement should be 18.Jubi

Like everyone else i have a delete, block, ratings, comments and status, function
Also a clear understanding that Sing Snap staff would be more than willing to look into it if i were to notify the staff by PM. I have read the code of conduct and guide lines.
Most status messages are informative banter amusing and sometimes downright hilarious. personally i have not seen or noticed any untoward status comments in comment sections of my recordings as "YET"' not anything bad enough to make me want to pluck my eyeball out of my head' well perhaps i have not been looking for them. I am not saying it is not happening ,and yes children are a top priority and rightfully so'they should be protected by their parents and other responsible adults in any environment or community.
I am wondering if your Topic is going to actually attract people who do have what could be conceived as unsavory status on their profile or if it will be like most topics turned into a puke fest or civil war which btw most children will see if one is not watching them
Anyways hope there is some resolution to the problem you speak of
Sing Snap Staff will fix it i am sure if made aware of it' which i guess you have done correct?

The only reason jokes 'get outta line' as you say, is coz some people don't understand the aussie sense of humour. There was nothing vulgar, nothing to take personal in the comments made, it was only someone taking it out of context, and making more of it than was intended, that led to a complaint and the immediate shutdown of that thread. (without warning I might add)!!

So again I state, if you don't like what you read on other peoples threads/messages/status, GO AWAY! Don't complain coz you don't like something you read, gee if we all did that, the whole internet/media would shut down.

Also getting back to the point the original person was making here, children see far worse....and USE far worse language and inuendos (I think thats how its spelt) ;-) on other sights such as FACEBOOK, in the school ground etc...... You cannot wrap your child in cotton wool to protect them from the world. Let them experience it, as it is, (god help us all), and help guide them along the way, into making correct decisions etc....

Thats it from me, hopefully I've made my point clear. I am not here to criticize anyone, however, I am fed up of people complaining about the slightest l
