I dropped my Gold down to a Blue status as the song selection has become atrocious for people in my age bracket. I like the 50's 60's and 70's songs but unfortunately the selections offered this past year were terrible for me. I would suggest that rather than bombarding us with a load of one particular genre of songs, just offer us 25% or less of each category each week. That way we will know that everyone is represented in your weekly listing of new selections and can continue to enjoy Singsnap participation.I know that everyone feels the same about their particular style of songs and we think you can do a much more fair selection than what you are giving us now.
thanksRitch
The weekly song additions are based on what our suppliers provide us with. Unfortunately, many karaoke producers are focusing on newer songs. We can't control the genres we receive. The producers create karaoke versions based on what is popular and selling right now. For the most part older songs aren't being produced into karaoke tracks right now due to the low demand for them.Hope that helps explain things some. Rob
You say "The weekly song additions are based on what our suppliers provide us with." and you can't control the genres you recieve!
Well that explains why I can ask for songs and never get it..... so what is the purpose of a song request?????BoefjeB
When song requests are reviewed we double check the regional licensing status (if applicable), double check the availability through our suppliers and check availability of the track through various producers. It's in our best interest to try and fill song requests. We do our very best to add the content people ask for. It's not always possible though. There are many factors like licensing, copyrights, etc that come into play. It's not as easy as finding the track anywhere and adding it to the site. We have to maintain a legal library of songs to remain viable. That unfortunately does mean we may not be able to offer some content. Rob
I understand that... but I still hope there will be songs I have requested... some songs are at Sunfly ..one at SBI..... we in Europe often like other genres.

My main complaint about this site is that it seems to cater primarily to country western. That genre is like nails on a chalk board to me. Not a lot to keep a gall like me (blues, jazz, and basically anything NON country) 'in the gold'. However, if your a country western kinda person, then this is the place for you!
P.S. Anyone know of a online Karaoke that caters to folks who don't care for country?

I can't justify a gold membership now let alone with a price increase. And the blue membership is so limited in song choice I haven't been recording much at all. So disappointing as I thought this was a great website.

Thinking of all the losses in Oklahoma!
Kinda sucks! If I had $80 to spend on this it would be great, but I dont I have kids ...Sing snap or food on the table....yet, I enjoy this site so very much. And because I can only afford it monthly (sometimes I shouldn't even do it) and now the price goes up.Its a bummer...Cause I love it here, and it is the one place where I have time for myself...Looks like Ill be going blue....

well to me i would love to renew my membership, but like so many others that i think live on fixed incomes as i do it is hard sometimes to come up with an extra 12 dollars a month for anything even entertainment such as singsnap is. so to me it would have been nice for them to do something for those of us like me. but when i can afford a gold membership again will get one.

We pay extra $5 when using credit card ????? Is that a fact????????????
I already pay our bank an 'international transfer' fee :(

I have been here long time, I have always paid monthly when I could tell myself that it was ok to spend 12 a month on something like ss. I remember when it raised to 12 and I thought that was too much and I did stop being a gold member as often then. I dont see myself ever convincing myself to pay 15. :(

There is a $5 processing fee on one-time credit card payments. There is no processing fee on PayPal subscriptions (for which you can pay with a credit card if you want to).
Reply by flatduck
if there s no processing fee on paypal...........what is the reason for the $3.00 increase ?...........is it call a singsnap fee ...............even at $12.00 a monthly subscriber will be paying $144.00 a year that is only $6.00 less than everyone who pays gold for a 2 year subscription ..................how is any new comer suppose to be attracted to join after the 31 august ....................i think the answer to my question is why not plainly say you don t want anymore monthly .................?

I would like to ask a question, if the yearly price has gone down then why is the monthly cost going up? I don't mind the monthly cost staying the same at $12.00 but why the increase on the ones that pay monthly? Not wanting cause any problems just asking......Thanks

Hi! Glad I read this. I have a question though. I don'y currently have my billing set under a PayPal account. It gets deducted monthly via my debit card. If I update it to my PayPal, will I stay under the $12?

Hey Joney. :)
Not trying to butt in your business, just wasn't sure if you realized PayPal is available in your currency. The process looks to be the same as anyone in the states provided I've not missed something. Anyway you might have another reason but here's the link just in case.

You are not butting in matie - you are doing your usual - helping another :)
Yes I have reasons for not using PayPal.... I pay direct with credit card - one time payments.... I love SingSnap and the folks here but I was already grumpy with my bank charging an international transfer fee ... now adding $5 to the cost of helping others kinda takes the shine off the joy.
Ho hum there goes one of the few joys in my life.

Ok, I understand. I've been mulling over the idea of taking advantage of the special one-time payment price paying annually like yourself, since currently it's the monthly plan.
You're a very generous person for sponsoring people and at least you have the joy of knowing you did this, however I realize how you feel. I'm curious if the $5 fee also applies to debit card annual payments. I read we can send money orders for annual payments and it might be an option I might use, not sure if this appeals to you nor the full costs you would incur. My bank doesn't charge for m.o.'s nor checks thankfully.
TC :)

I paid yearly and the expiry date of my membership is March 2013. I am not able to enjoy the special offer. it's not fair as the discount of my yearly payment is less than what S/S is offering now.....

Everyone can take advantage of the special offer. What you can do is go to the address below and make a payment which will then add an additional year (or two) to your membership:

If you have a monthly recurring payment that would be done through a PayPal subscription. It's the only way we offer recurring payments. You must have your debit card linked to your PayPal account and they are using it to pay for your Gold. :)

You can put emotion into rap just as much as you could any song and yes you can indeed sing Rap. Do you know how much breath control/support is needed to sing rap? Lots :) more then your average country/rock/blues/r&b singer
See to lots of ppl Rap isnt sung. But in order for a person to feel the rap song or see it as a sing they must know the rythm. They have to feel the flow ya know? The beat carries on you just have to get to feel it and youll like it just like you would any song.
LiL Wayne- How to love- Rap song- Sung. For example :)
And although rap may not have good words in the song. It is good on the ears. And ill tell you why. It trains your ears to know notes. To feel as I said rythm! One of my little tricks I use that taught me to sing. Along with breath control I can hold long notes for a long time on any song thanks to rap songs :)
It takes breath control to deliver a speech, or say ones lines in a play, or recite poetry..
BUT GIVING A SPEECH OR RECITING POETRY IS NOT SINGING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nor is RAPPING, SINGING........ Rapping is talking. END OF SUBJECT!!!!!

Ahem... rapping is not singing nor talking. Rapping is a different kind of musical/artistic expression, one I happen to enjoy. I admire anyone who is able to rap well. :)

I love SingSnap and have been subscribing for $12 a month for several years. I am not sure about continuing to subscribe at the $15 rate though. This is mainly due to the fact that I don't use the site very much, and it's already hard for me to justify paying $12 a month to just record a few songs here and there. I think for those who are extremely active on the site $15 would be a fair price, but a 25% increase is a lot for those with limited financial resources or those who don't frequent the site. People who fit this criteria are likely to unsubscribe, and it seems like SingSnap would lose more money than it would gain. Too bad there couldn't be a different pricing structure based on how much storage a member uses. I have only made 495 recordings in 3+ years and it has cost me $444! Sounds like a lot when you think about it from the perspective of usage!

i doubt that they will change anything for the monthly subscriber ...........i get the feeling that we re not worth any discount...............so if my $12.00 dollar don t mean anything i can t see why i would pay $15.00 and still be consider not worthy of being a customer .............and according to views and reply on this thread there ain t to many members who care about the monthly sub ............or how many stay or go

When I first joined this site, I felt that country music did not agree with my vocals or my style. Yet, I have discovered that there are some very beautiful country songs. I don't have to sing them with a twang or drawl. I sing them my way. Yet if you don't like country music, then you don't. I do understand your love for blues and jazz. I am the same. There is also alot of pop music on this site. Maybe you could find songs in that genre as well? Or even in the film/stage/tv section? Or R&B? Hope these suggestions are helpful.

Hm interesting to say the least. It seems those who pay pal for auto-debit get a break. Those whom chose to renew via credit/debit card Don't? Also there is one good side of it. Take cable and satalite providers. They offer discounts to NEW subscribers, never the ones who have been with them for years.
Also new songs are the ones being prefered? Hm a while back I believe it was VH1 that did a "road trip" song survey. The newest song chosen was from 1989. Also I am a bit puzzled how some karaoke sites have or had (site shut down) songs SS doesn't. There are numerous people on SS whom used and do recall TheSimsOnStage. This site was owned and operated by EA games.
I am fairly confident, due the international standings the company has, followed closely to licensing and legalities to operate the site. Too bad for the good folk just looking to kill some time or have some fun, the account hackers shut it down. EA games closed the site to protect account holders private information.
I would like to see some of the hits from some of bands, rather than seeing some of the songs, but not the one we hear on the radio, cd's or whatever.
Just my 2 cents worth.
