The Battle: Round Three - Team Battle

Welcome To Round 3 - The Team Battle!

This contest truly has been an epic battle. Round Two witnessed teammates battling head to head in an effort to advance into Round Three. The mentors matched up their teammates, gave them a song to duet and ultimately decided which one person from each pair would advance into our Top 20!

First we will announce those who have advanced and then we will outline the instructions for Round 3 as well as The Save! So read carefully!

Without further ado, we present the Mentors' decisions...

Annie's Decision:

I would just like to say to my team, that in no way do any of these decisions reflect on your talent. You are all amazingly talented, and I am so humbled by how brilliantly you can sing. Most of us can only dream of singing like you, and you should be incredibly proud of not only your talent, and your charisma, but also of your work ethic and dedication. I am delighted to have got to know you a little bit better, and you all have a new fan for life!

OMG...What can I say and how do I make this decision? This one breaks my heart to have to choose one over the other. Did you HEAR this duet? If not...go back and listen. It can be on the radio TODAY. When it started, I thought to myself "Ok, Tabitha's nailed this and she's got it in the bag"...and then Trubador sang, and I was floored all over again. I actually groaned out loud the minute he started singing because I knew right then that this was going to be such a tough decision, and at the time of this writing, I am STILL going back and forth in my mind. I have to make this decision though, and so, I choose...um.., ok, here i go...I choose...EEEEEEEEEEEK. DANG IT! OK...I choose TheTrubador.

Another hauntingly gorgeous duet and another heart wrenching decision. This duo did everything I asked and more...they both poured their hearts into this recording, and the tenderness and control that both brought to their vocals is on a professional level. This decision probably took the most time as I listened to every single note, every nuance of this recording to come up with a winner. Both of these incredibly talented performers gave me the emotional connection to the song that I look for and both sang it with so much vulnerability. For me, again, this came down to a gut decision and I want to bring both of these performers through with me, but I can't. For THIS duet, for THIS moment, I have to go with Pennytunes.

Mystic worked so closely with me and was also working through a rough throat, but managed to send me several practice runs of the first song we chose, the second song we chose and finally her solo run. She was such a trooper and her rockin' rendition of Believe by Cher should not be missed. Unfortunately she didn't have the chance to sing a duet as her partner had life commitments that kept her from participating, but she absolutely deserves her pass through to the next round. ktinabeena is an amazing singer, and a lovely person, and I hope that she is able to give us more songs so we can hear her amazing voice all over SingSnap!

I love this pairing, and I love this duet. Another incredibly tough decision falls in my lap, and I think I've eaten half a bottle of antacids trying to come up with an answer on this and all the other duets. I never realized that these decisions would keep me up all night, thinking and rethinking them...making decisions and changing my mind. I have gone back and forth so many times and for so many reasons that my head is spinning. Both of these artists are incredibly talented, and ilovemylord's hauntingly gorgeous tone gave something new to this song while JJMartin rocked it out. I debated long into the night over this one, and I have made my decision, but it was absolutely gut wrenching to do. For this battle, I have chosen JJMartin to continue.

This was such an incredibly hard decision because both ladies blended so seamlessly and worked so hard on getting the right mix and the harmonies spot on. I know that Anna was working through an illness and yet still produced such a beautiful rendition of this song. I did not realize going into this contest how emotionally draining these decisions would be. I am so torn about this decision, but I have to make it, and I have to go with my gut on this one because the ladies are sooooo close as far as talent and motivation and how incredibly beautiful they are as human beings. GAHHHHHHH....I DON'T want to make this decision, but since I have to, for THIS battle, my pick is JennieSweden.

Liz and Joia displayed beautiful, well matched voices. Powerful, emotional, sweet, with excellent harmonies. It was a very tough call on this one! Outstanding!

Daria and Roger had a beautiful blend to their wonderful vocals. Perfect tone.Really superb! This was an excellent duet that was difficult to critique and even more difficult to select the choice for the next round!

Beautiful emotion and great vocals in this professional performance! ZOL earned this move up to the next round even though his partner brina unfortunately was unable to perform due to a sore throat. She really wanted to be part of this contest!

GirlyQ & Musasciteras
These two ladies matched beautifully together in this duet. Excellent vocals and the right emotion for this very sad song. This was a close one as Eileen sang very well also!

Two beautiful voices, with great harmony provided a very excellent duet despite meara having to deal with urgent health matters in the midst of the contest!

Rob's Decision:

Deveney & Florrie
Deveney's fantastic tone and Florrie's superb vocal control made this a very tough decision. In the end I had to choose Deveney because I could really feel the emotion of the song coming through in her vocals.

69mammaz & jimbridger
With jimbridger's full rich tone and 69mammaz's wonderfully soulful voice it made choosing very difficult. At the end of the day I chose Jimbridger because he captured the emotion of the song so perfectly and with exceptional vocal control.

gwb & Kelvis
I was expecting big things from this duet and both Kelvis and gwb exceeded them all. With gwb's fantastic singing style and Kelvis' rich vocals it was tough to decide. When it's all said and done I had to choose Kelvis because of her rich and smooth vocals that perfectly project the mood of the song.

forgetfulauren & CarrieAngels
The harmonies on this song were amazing just as I had expected. With forgetfulauren's silky smooth vocals and CarrieAngel's powerful vibrato my decision was not an easy one. I ended up choosing CarrieAngel because of her exceptional tone and vocal control.

BarefootJorji & JustBrea
As predicted these two have voices that were made to harmonizing each other. With BarefootJorji's crisp tones and JustBrea's smooth emotioanl vocals I've been torn on what decision to make. In the end I chose BarefootJorji because of her amazing abiliity to project the feeling of the song onto the listener. .

These decisions have been absolute torture. This is the last thing I think about before bed and the first thing I think about when I wake up. I have taken this roll very seriously and it causes me extreme distress to make these decisions. Every.Single.Person who performed did such an incredible job and made my task more difficult thank I could ever have dreamed up. It is very humbling to eliminate people who are all far more talented than I could dream to be. If you do not advance, please hold your head high because you all did a truly remarkable job. You made me proud, the team proud and I hope you made yourself proud.

I went back and forth on this one 100 times over. I had my initial impression prior to the duets but once I listened I was blown away. Both of these singers are immensely talented and sing with incredible emotion. They make the most difficult of runs sound effortless. I even surprised myself with this decision but it came down to me selecting the person with a unique tone, unlike any voice I've heard before. You're both AMAZING, INCREDIBLE and so unbelievably talented and I absolutely hate making this decision - but since I can only bring one forward, I select Chenili.

This was one of my most difficult pairings to begin with but ended up being one of the most beautiful duets I've ever heard. These two singers gave me chills in places I didn't know could get them! Danny was unsure of the song but he stepped up beyond belief and poured his heart and soul into the performance. Angela is truly angelic and her voice could move mountains. I feel the person I chose had a slight edge in this performance but it breaks my heart to leave one behind. I choose AngelaSweden.

Another duet match made in heaven. I chose their song because I thought they both could rock it out but I never thought it would be radio worthy! What a performance! Both Pat and Jag blended together and made that song truly something spectacular! Their voices felt like one and honestly, I had to think back to the auditions to help me decide because they were both just that fabulous. I chose the person I felt would best be able to entertain and put on a rockin' show next round. Both are equally deserving but I select JaguarJ.

Depsite Polish's partner being a no-show, Polish submitted an astounding recording of his selected song. His vocals are out of this world and I am stoked to see what he comes up with for the next round!

This decision devastates me. To the core. I need everyone to realize how absolutely torn I've been because in my opinion, these two poured every ounce they had into their performance and came out evenly matched. They both have hauntingly gorgeous vocals, they both can harmonize the heck out of a song and they both were so incredibly dedicated. I cannot believe how excruciating it has been to make this decision. Lee was running back and forth from the hospital awaiting his grandchild and to and from a birthday party yet still found time to sing and check in constantly and be there for his partner. Star had tonsillitis and was recording when she could barely speak. She was up until the very wee hours, squeaking out a performance and just when you thought she was done, she doped herself up on antibiotics and delivered yet another, absolutely amazing recording. It pains me to have to make this decision. I reached out and asked friends and family and everyone was split right down the middle. I absolutely do not want to choose. But I have to do it. And it comes down to one thing - trusting my gut. I choose Stargirl.

What's Next For Our Top 20?

You guys have done tremendous but the competition is still hot so remember to bring your "A" game! This round will find you battling head to head against the remaining members of your team. Your song will be judged by all four mentors and only the top scoring contestant from each team will advance into The Final Four.

We suggest the Mentors and Contestants still keep in touch and work together to bring the best performance possible. Mentors are only allowed to offer advice, not actually assist in the finished product.

3. You may use the harmony feature. (No two-person duets)
4. Vocal effects are allowed.
5. Video effects are allowed but make sure we can still see you peform.
6. Gender benders are allowed.
7. You must appear on camera. (No stand-ins, puppets, external videos, etc.) We want to see YOU perform.
8. You are allowed assistance from family members if need be. (Back-up performers are allowed)
9. Your avatar/profile pic must remain the contest logo.
