anyone fed up with the same feature page tunes

i think you could discuss and make changes that s the easy part.................but at the end it won t change the way people comment or listen ...........there is way to many reason as to why some do and some don t and some won t ......................

The best solution would be to make sure the same songs are not repeated within 7 days...I am sure a some code could be written to achieve this end.

I just want to ask...and I don't mean it any other way than just getting information and people's point of view...what is so special about the feature page and the songs there? I've seen this topic brought up and I don't really understand the importance of it (the feature page I mean).

The comments and listens wasn't what I was concerned about. I would just like to see better feature pages versus the same songs on every week being posted over and over again. That's all I'm trying to get at.Oregonwax

as far as importance of the feature page ...it s the only place that you recording will get instant exposure other than that place........................ the only way is if you promote yourself whether it will be through contest or promotion thread or listening to friends and hope the may return the favor

I use the feature page listing for ideas of what to sing. Sometimes there are songs I've heard but never learned so, if I feel up to it, I take that as a challenge to learn the song (sometimes I do, sometimes I give up). Then, of course, there are always songs I already know if I just feel like no hassle singing. You get exposure just by singing any song, feature or not, because some (probably many) people look at the newly recorded or their faves recordings.

So, the feature page serves a different purpose for me... finding something to sing when I don't feel inspired. Having said that, I've never failed to find something there. I think the system is working well... that's my opinion on it anyway. However, I'm sure the feedback here is being noted. :)

The feedback might be noted, Shanda, but not much, if anything is being done about it. This is not the first person I've seen remark about the repetition on the feature page. I've seen the same songs on there as much as 3 days running! Unfortunately, the version they have on there is not the best one available here for that song. If a SONG is on feature page, then why not have ALL versions of that song on feature? I've mentioned both the repetition and the inclusion of all versions of a song previously and it apparently falls on deaf ears! Flatduck, to YOU being on the feature page doesn't appear to mean much but to a new comer, it's the opportunity for people to hear them since the feature page is normally the first page someone goes to when they log on to SS. If, as you imply, the feature page is not anything important, then why not just do away with the feature page entirely? With all the songs available here on SS, by all the various artists, it could go an entire week, I'm sure, without a repeat. Oh well...all this will just fall on MORE deaf ears so not gonna bother with anything else.

As far as Defense is concerned, he's been here at SS sing 2009 so he knows full well what the feature page is all about. Sounds like he might be trying to "stir the pot" a little! Huh, Defense?...lol. Keeps things interesting though. Now...back to something that IS important...looking for a song to sing!

I dont think no pot was trying to be stir. I think the feature page is doing fine. I see new songs all the time on there. I also see 80s music on there and all kinds of music that has always been around :).

After 4 years of being a Gold member and I just became really uninspired by the feature songs...same ole same ole stuff. I think it was better when it was theme oriented. Just my opinion

I don't know why people rely so much on the feature page,your posted song is only on there for a matter of seconds then it's gone.......remember there are thousands of great songs in the existing library.....see ya in the song library!

I totally agree with you, Oregonwax, but the powers that be, along with some people on here see no problem with how the songs are cycled through, so guess, once again, the comment will fall on deaf ears! Big surprise there, huh? Good try though! Maybe some day they'll figure out a good way to do the page!

Obviously the last one is to be strongly discouraged at all costs unless you want Stanny chasing you with a rolling pin =)

I have started one of these threads before and based on information given by staff at singsnap, the feature page is chosen by a program now that mainly selects the most popular songs on singsnap by most genres and probably 10% random songs.

Now there is one big problem with this I see........

If the program selects the most popular/most sung songs by singsnappers then when they are placed on the feature obviously it boosts their popularity/total number of sings so obviously..........

The feature songs will never really change all that much, it needs sorting out and the answer isn't to tell people to enter challenges/contests to be honest the last few I entered put me off for life, it is to fix the system or not have a feature page at all =)

On another note, some advicce before entering challenges/contests always check to see if the judges are tone deaf before entering =)

Hey all I'm just curios,
Some of you know I have been very vocal about the Feature's lack of variety, when Singsnap started 6 years ago the feature songs were based off certain words ,genres, dates or subjects of significance. Now it seems that they have about 10 or 12 canned feature pages and maybe they add 25 new songs that no one wants to sing. When have you heard some really great 80's hair bands music on the feature??? Now it also seems that unless you sing a feature no one listens, But we're also tired of singing and listening to the same tunes. I thought if maybe we could get enough people to discuss this with Trevor and staff we could get some changes brought aboutOregonwax

I guess I live in a different world. The Feature pages seem to be loaded with songs and folks I ain't never even heard of. There a lot of songs I know also to that, but could never do. What I would like to see in the feature page is sorted catagories rather than random re-sorted variations.

What I mean is not like the browse page, but specific oriented. Such as love songs by men/women, classic rock, ballads, blues, country and even maybe rap and we can't leave out todays so called rock. If the feature page is based on top recorded songs, in chat rooms I hit folks hardly ever do any of them.

Just my 2 cents.

Everyday is a theme on on the feature page hehehe. Just gotta find em :).

I wish they would do away with the feature page all together and have the songs just appear in the order they were recorded, People will always look for their favourites .

I think they should add all the *NEW* songs to the Friday feature page just as a way to get them out there...

And after saying that... I hope they finish up these *Demo* songs that really (IMHO) have nothing to do with Karaoke fast... and start adding new songs from the user request lists (which they say they have and use... still not sure about that, though... I think they are broke and can't afford to get us good songs anymore... but that is just my opinion)

But yes... I think only about 10% of the SS library ever makes it to the features pages... too bad... they should do a reverse popularity thing for a while and feature the songs that hardly get any recognition... again, in my humble opinion...

We are going to be incorporating more variety into the features. I'm personally working on some special features that will start soon. thanks for your feedback. it is taken into consideration. I got tired of the same ol songs myself, lol. Auto generated days will still be there. they are not bad features they just need to be mixed up.

I have some really fun features planned! look for those in the next few days!

I have been finding some really good songs on the features lately. sometimes I find I may overlook a song or 2 when strolling through the list.

ok...so I'm a nut about the feature page. always have been since I joined this site when it first began, lol. for alot of people it is the only exposure they get on the site. let's face it...if you are new you don't have alot of fans and the feature page is a good place to start.

The feature page is used to host special events such as Dare to Duet, Rocktober, Winterfest, etc. We have a page where every song recorded shows up in order it was recorded. it's called the "New" page, right next to the feature page tab. ALOT of people overlook this. there is also a tab to view recently recorded duets.

we can't promise theme features every day. it is very time consuming to research songs and gather them all. I can promise that I will do my best to bring a little more variety to the features. I worked on them for 2 years once before and really enjoyed it.
