Improved Recorder problems?

Well its loading fine on the new recorder. One thing when I record I don't get any indication on the record meter. I do on the old one. I noticed this yesterday then in the afternoon I got indication on the record meter. Today no indication voice or music. the old recorder I get indication. I can record and go to review the music and voice is ok but it is a pain not being able to see the meter for my levels..

i have used it a couple of times and it sounds like there is an echo in it

why is it when i get done with a recording to do another one it won't come up

Hi! I wasn't having any trouble with the new recorder until today.
I hooked up my new mixer, used the Wizard to set up...

Now it won't let me connect to any songs... I've tried several different songs from various genres. Just says... "CONNECTING" and then I sit here waiting for a few minutes before giving up.

Maybe it's just the weather... There have been tornado watches out today.
Maybe it's the new mixer. I don't know...

new recorder won't load

I find that the new recorder takes longer to process my song and i spend time waiting for it to process, am i doing something wrong?

Hi Jason the new recorder has never been able to load, and for about the last two months, i keep getting 'dropout detected'. Even with pop-blockers disabled I keep getting "dropout detected". Now my membership is expiring in a week and I haven't been able to enjoy the site since the new year.

I don't know what tweaks you made to the recorder but now my video syncs on preview and save...wooo hoo!! I am thrilled because that was a problem for me.

There is occassional reverb that just hurts my ears! #3, Most times, it takes FOREVER for the buffering after singing the song & waiting to hear your recording.

I believe the flash is either Active X or Java

I have Windows Vista, and Java. My problem today is, when I try to record , the round knob on the "Record Volume" slide, slides down all the way, detaches itself from the recorder, and slides slowly down the page all by itself. If I click on it, it goes back to the correct position, but disappears when I try to record. I am unable to record at all with the new recorder! Weird, or what?

NEW RECORDER IS NOT WORKING RIGHT FOR ONE WHEN I TRY TO GO LISTEN TO OTHERS BEING THAT WE ARE IN A CONTEST AND ITS ONLY RIGHT TO LISTEN TO THE OTHERS IT ONLY PLAYS THE SOUND A SEC AND STOPS AND I HIT IT AGAIN AND AGAIN THE SAME THING...PLUS IT TAKES TO LONG TO LOAD AND ITS ALWAYS BUFFERING ....I DONT LIKE IT .......AND I CANT USE THE OLD ONE WANT LET ME....I AM HAVING NO FUN ANYMORE....

i HAVE A DELL PC LAPTOP, WINDOWS 7 ....WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED ..

Overall sound quality falls below the original recorder. Please don't phase out the original.

1. Do you notice the sync drifting? By drifting I mean you can sync the song in one place, but it slowly loses sync as it continues to play.

2. I'm not sure what you mean. Do you have an example of this? Can you post the link or send it to me in a PM?

3. Where exactly are you seeing the long buffer times? Is it in the Preview/Mixer stage or listening to the saved recording? When you say it takes forever how long do you estimate it takes?

Also, can you try disabling Clipping Protection to see if you can record that way? You can uncheck the Clipping Protection option at the bottom right of the recorder.

1. Open the recording you want to listen to.
2. Click the Play button.
3. Click the Stop button.
4. Let the black bar above the Play button load at least halfway.
5. Click Play and see if that helps.

When you say the music cuts out can you explain that more? What exactly happens? Does it do this when recording, playing recordings or both? When you say the sync is off can you describe that more? Do you find the sync is drifting or off throughout the entire recording?

I am using internet explorer, & windows 8 and tried the recording wizard...

So to add to my problems....
1. It had stopped but has started again... I am being asked to run the set up wizard every time I come back for a new recording session. I have not logged out of SingSnap or removed your cookies..... this should not be..

2. I also note you made a comment about reducing the mic levels on ss. Is this why I can't record unless the mic is right at my mouth? I used to be able to put the mic up to about 85 on my machine. I would do this so the mic would not have to be in front of my face or in the webcam. Last night was the first time I used my webcam in a long while and I found that even with it up to 100 percent level on my machine, I had to have the mic up fairly close and certainly visible in the recording. It makes me not want to do a webcam performance if I have to record it this way. It took awhile to get the music levels best, had to turn them down to almost nil as the background vocals were so loud....

I was using the original recorder because your new one still does not work.

I see none of my issues have been addressed here and no PM, although I see a few members with the same problems, I've no time to read everything... I just tried again with the new recorder.... HORRIBLE. It drags/slurs all over the place on playing back what I sang. I am NOT going to save and post a recording that I can't hear before saving it. For one thing, it wastes a great deal more of my time and as I have mentioned, the new recorder takes far longer to load than the original one and wastes at least an additional 30 seconds. Not good. I won't be able to renew if problems continue or if we can't have the option to use the original until all issues are completely fixed. I suspect much has to do with the clipping protection added, an unnecessary feature. Possibly the lyric speed thing may cause problems, too, as that must change something regarding speed.... I don't use either feature and can't understand why anyone would need them. If they are the culprits for the problems, I opt they be removed. Again, I have left my issues before and all my tech stuff... still very unhappy with the new recorder.CKat

CKat, I'm still waiting for at least one example of the problem so I can have a closer look. The clipping protection simply slides the recording volume down for you and the lyrics speed sets the sync of lyrics to music.

If you don't use them, they're literally as good as not present, so just ignore them! You might not need them but other people do.

I left the song up for a few days but got rid of it because of all the crackles. I figured you would have listened to it in that amount of time but I never got a PM on it and when I had time to scroll through all these posts, I saw nothing addressed. I do prefer a PM, to go through everything here for an answer takes a lot of time.

I'll make the recording public again for you. I really don't like the sound and you can hear the crackles mid way through to the end. I have no idea why. Again, after recording, I played it back and it sounded horrible, slurring all over the place. On save, slurring not noticeable, only crackles... but it should be clean. It also takes far to long to load, save, etc.. and the Set Up Wizard now continues to ask to be run. Why isn't it saving the settings? Happened before for a time but it stopped on its own, never figured out why... it's doing it again... cookies not removed...

Here's what was a hugely, slurred recording on playback... in save, it crackles... I can't use a recorder that doesn't allow me to hear what I sang before saving it on the 'chance' it doesn't sound 'too bad'.... anyway, if hearing this helps you to figure out my problem, feel free to listen. I will only leave it up a few days as it's not clean.... thanks, Jason

Also note: I don't use the clipping protection and it seems the mic level is way too low now... see my previous post. I thought it had something to do with my upgrade to Windows7 but I saw your comment about you setting internal mic levels lower.... if so, I request you put them back to what they were, I can't record as I used to with my webcam. I just did "take one" of Day by Day, played it back and wasn't happy with it. "Take two" played it back and my vocals were not there.

This is not the first time this has happened.

hi, i am using windows vista, dual core pentium processor, I do not have any problems processing my video with the old version, but with the new recorder after i finish recording it takes about 2 minutes for my recording to be process before i can view it...I have had luck before in clearing out my temp files and sometimes it seems to help load it faster but many times that does not help at all, any suggestions would be appreciated...

Using Win XP
FireFox 10.0.2 (but the same thing happens in IE & Google Chrome)
Adobe Flash Player 11.102.62
Temp Files cleared at every recording.
No other programs running to interfer.
Also I have rebooted my modem several times in case it was a connection problem..in the past I was connected wireless but now am connected directly to modem.

The sync drifts as the recording goes on. Whenever there is back-up singing it goes wayy off sync even though it starts out ok.

about 20% of the time, the new record just wont record for me. other times it works fine... i am not sure why this is happening.

3. The longest buffers are after the song is sung, & I'm waiting for the buffering to go through so I CAN preview the recording. I have waited up to 15 mins. for this at times, but mostly it's about 5 - 10 min. wait time. It also does take about less than 5 mins. to listen to a saved recording.

Every time I try to use the new improved recorder, the screen remains on the "loading" arrow circling round and round but the recorder does not load. i have to click on use old recorder and then once it has loaded, switch to new recorder and then it loads.

OK, I was having problems with the the long processing times after i recorded got it corrected by lowering the speed of my uploads that the wizard found when it ran my scan, no delay now at all after that change.....Scan showed a high speed computer, i changed it to medium speed and it is working like a champ, hope it helps someone...

3. It sounds like you're talking about sending the recording for preview. Try rerunning the setup wizard and choosing a lower upload speed in step 4 to see if that helps.
