And we all have opinions, and thanks for sharing yours. I tried doing a song I did in the past with the "OLD" recorder, and comparing the finished song to the version done with the old recorder, and it sounds 1000 times better than any I have tried with the ""NEW AND IMPROVED???" recorder. Give this trick a try, and see if you still think this way !!

Hi Rob. I just now see your note about contacting support. I will, don't have time right now.

I recorded a song in the original just now. On Playback before save, it was slurring and crackling, though far less than other songs I've tried here. So.... idea!.... I opened the SS Original Song in another tab and recorded on that the Playback of the song before saving it. I was hoping the playback of the song in the SS Original would stay the same once saved, so you could hear what I was talking about and not think I'm crazy.... It worked!

I put notes in the comment section so you can fast forward to the more troubled areas if you want.... I won't be redundant and list them here.

Here is the song I sang before I saved it (in the SS Original song recorder):

Here is the song that is in the correct recorder that belongs to it's title, after being saved. It is better than it was before saving as slurs aren't there, only crackles, mostly at the end but this is still troublesome:

From the viewpoint of an AUDIO ENGINEER who has the ability to analyze the sound quality WITH TEST EQUIPMENT, I can say with proof that the quality of the new recorder is not as good as the old one, no matter what you say. I have an oscilloscope, and an audio wave form analyzer that says otherwise. It is hard to fool electronic test gear !!!!!

the player is repeatably been sticking during mixing...causes jumps in music if saved,,no time to keep doing over.. in hopes it might work this time...6 tries aleady.....

I am having problems with doing duets. When I sing a song (that is not a duet), my recording is fine. However, when I try to sing with someone to do a duet with them, their voice is echoed.

If I try clicking on "echo cancellation" on my laptop, then the echo goes away BUT then when my part comes in, it sounds like I am singing underwater, which isn't how it sounds on a song I do on my own by myself. Anyone know what I should do to fix that?

I have Windows 7, using a Dell Inspiron laptop to sing on.

In Time Somewhere

At one time I thought Singsnap was the best thing since sliced bread. It was fun and I enjoyed it very much. Since all this trouble with the new cheaper recorder with low quality its really not fun anymore. I used to think my recordings were fairly good but if I use the new recorder I am really ashamed for anyone to hear them.Its too bad.

A static issue would be related to sound settings somewhere. The actual recorder itself cannot create static. This sounds like a settings issue or that your mic is picking up the backing track and your duet partner. The following FAQ has some info about this.

You may try running the setup wizard again to make sure the correct mic device is selected. If that doesn't help our Recording Support team can assist you in getting things setup correctly. The new recorder works for me. I just dont like it nearly as well. The sound is more 'tinlike' and doesnt blend as well as the old recorder on the finished product.

Please dont phase out the old one I like the sound MUCH better.

I am having skipping and crackling and freezing issues with the new recorder all night tonight NOT GOOD! dont know whats up but please dont get rid of the old recorder we have to have one to fall back on..This is not the first time I have had these issues could be cause alot of traffic here tonight not sure???

I finally got my problem resolved (the one mentioned above) but I get crackling/popping sounds at times too with the new recorder. I really don't want to see the old recorder taken off of here anytime soon while I am having those issues.

There is no doubt in my mind this so-called improved recorder is not very good. I had serious problems with it yesterday. I was trying to re-mix a couple of songs and everything I tried, whether that be apply or take off MMSB, adjust the volume or wahetver, nothing worked. When the recording was re-saved the changes did not take effect. But more than that, I have noticed over the time I have been using it now that recordings are generally coming out muffled and you have to have the volumes whacked way up to the point of distortion to get an anywhere decent record level. The quality of the finished recording is poor. Thats my two cents.

Well I keep trying to record and Connection failed keeps coming up or Clipping detected and I get stopped in mid song with nothing....Where do I go from here...????
As you see by my profil I havent been able to record in a long while and Im paying my monthly fee every month (right now and for awhile) for nothing....I really need some clarification here....and be able to record....right now I get nothing...In fact the last song I recorded I had to go to my sister in laws to record the song so I could finish Trevors challenge............I really need some answers here........tks Mary

The Connection Failed message is likely due to a firewall. We have an FAQ about this. I'll link you to it.
Why do I get "Connection Failed", "No Record Servers" or get stuck on "Sending Recording..."?

The Clipping Detected message is actually normal and alerting you that your mic level is too high and is being automatically adjusted. You can toggle this feature on and off from the bottom right of the recorder.

If those tips don't help you can message us from the Contact Us link at the bottom of any SingSnap page to continue troubleshooting.

It works for me "Except" there is always an echo and when I "uncheck" the enable music the music is too low and when I "Uncheck" Make me sound better its all voice and hardly any music.

the timing is never the same.On the original its about the same with every song but the improved is somethings off the chart.when i try to listen to the recording a second time to make sure i have it right it won't load says mic problem.So i have to keep redoing it if i don't get timing right the first listen.

As the song plays for me to go over it before I try to record it it keeps stopping at times it will restart but for the most part it just stops moving : )

I have problems with the no server at times too ..If I open up a new page.. I use google chrome .. and make sure SS is connected and hit record again it will start up Same thing If it wont mix or wont let you listen to the what you just recorded .. I always make sure SS is connected before I try to mix it or listen back to the song

new recorder always, always!! doubles over my recording.....so i have a big issue trying to get it mixed jus right!! i love the old recorder! please dont take it away, i have been using it for over 4 yrs! im having to use the new recorder now, and it is slow as christmas in loading my song to sing and it only loads a little at a time....so i cant sing the whole song, which really sucks....gonna give up soon and jus go to bed. need to give singsnappers two options, as to which recorder we are more comfortable using. i mean, afterall , we are paying our membership to have a good karoake experience with singsnap. seems like the website wants to take that away.

The loading issues today are not due to any SingSnap issue.

Between 10:28am and 10:35am PDT some customers may have experienced intermittent connectivity issues from the Internet to AWS services in the US-East-1 Region. I've been trying to record for hrs. The problem occurs after recording as you press for preview. It's does the spinning graphic but nothing happens. I did get one to finally preview but when I went back for a new take, it took another 6 takes to get another preview.

I finally wised up and I switched to the older recorder and POW! perfect on the first take.

Just finished a song on the new recorder..... went to play it back & it started playing but then just stopped & I got a big exclamation point in the middle of the page. I tried refreshing it, but then the completed song disappeared..... so now I have to record it again.

This is getting frustrating with all the issues I've had lately. *sigh*

Ok I downloaded Adobe Flash Player 11 and I have chrome and still I get nothing, just am empty box ;)

Hazel, 2 things with Chrome. First, when you update Flash sometimes Chrome gets "confused". Open a new tab and type about:plugins you'll get a new page showing every add-on and plug in. Look at the Flash plugin. There may be 2 or even 3! Disable all but the most current version. Also check your Shockwave plugin.

You can test your Flash and Shockwave here:

Once you've checked your plugins, open a new tab, close all the others, and in Chrome you want to click the "Wrench" in the upper right hand corner, Choose Settings, then Options. Click Under The Hood and Clear Browsing Data - leave the Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data UNchecked, then click the Clear Browsing Data.

I do that regularly, then use CCleaner (free and fabulous) and have Flash unchecked so it doesn't clear that cache. Otherwise, with the new Player my settings are NOT being saved (never had this problem with the old Player by the way). Once a month I will go into Flash and check that it's not getting too full, if needs be will clear that out on the Adobe site.

Close Chrome after you've cleared out, run CCleaner, remove the "gunk" and then try opening Chrome again.

Personally, I have better luck with FF than Chrome for this site. I have no idea why, but so far *knock wood* it does work some better - not perfect mind you - but better. Then again, I haven't updated to the latest version of FF yet because I will have to go through reinstalling Flash and Shockwave again.

VGFan - site's been super slow for me for about a week now, a lot of "waiting for" at the bottom of the browser page, a lot of waiting a long time for the preview page to open and yes, I've had it just stop dead and am also getting a decent amount of odd little "popping" here and there and synching, while it should be easier with the new Mixer isn't always.
